….it’s not that simple, though. He has a year left on his contract so we could end up paying £10m for somebody who shows a bit of form for 11 games then relapses. Alternatively, he might be ok but decide to move on a Bosman at the end of the season. Surely better £10m options out there.

it’s a crazily risky situation for us to use him. Indeed, it was a crazily risky situation to take him in the first place.

I don’t know mate, in a world where we are spending 7.5 mill in board compensation and almost £10 mill a season in manigerial and their back room team compensation almost yearly, if we spend 10 mill on a player who (after assessment) can impact results, I’m not totally horrified by that compartively.

Im very open minded, 10 mill alternatively doesn’t buy us an awful lot comparatively in my opinion.

I think Dyche has a chance to get the best out him, given the turn around in say the likes of The Duke and McNeill. The lad himself though is a stakeholder and he has to prove it before we take in the risk, but I’m very open minded - pragmatically we are going season to season.

But if he's playing that amount of games he must be playing well enough to justify the spend? We aren't gonna keep playing him if he's awful.
It depends what the further clauses are I guess. I think everyone knows the £10m for 20 games thing, but not sure what the next fee would be.

If it's 10m more when he plays another 20 games, that makes it 20m for the season potentially, and we probably can't even afford that.

I couldn't see him playing more than 20 games because of fitness rotation etc, I don't think he's going to start every game theres no way he becomes the Deli of old, but I think 10 mil for the season is better than anything Kev is gonna scramble up for us on deadline day.

I think we need to wait till he gets fit and we see him play, ideally before the end of pre season. This deal isn't ideal though, and puts us in a tricky situation where we quite possibly can't financially afford to give him regular game time.

That’s the thing no one is saying just play him and spend 10 mill, give him a chance to prove himself and if he’s influencing the squad as one of the most talented players in it, paying the 10 mill is viable - we have that option and be mad not to look at it.

The choice is spend 5 mill on a player who won’t play. Or 15 mill on a player who was the talents of his generation who could possibly influence the team in an area we are significantly lacking, in a position we could drop 30 mill on. With a manager who has proven he can get the best out of talents who have lost their way.

We would be bananas not to look at it.

I just feel if we're giving him regular game time, he must be performing, so it's a win win, I don't think we play him to get into form, this is the Premier League not League 1 or a reserves match, he'll be selected on merit. Definitely worth the money if he's selected on merit.

need to get him back fit and ready for Fulham home to play as a nr 9 with Wobi, Danjuma and McNeil behind him.
Then see at the end of the window where we are with signings / budget / his performances if we keep him.
I dont feel comfortable throwing DCL in without some proper game time

I'm sorry, but I can't agree with you, mate. His undoubted talent hasn't been seen, apart from the odd classy touch, for years. My, neither extensive, nor expert admittedly, experience of serious mental issues is that they're like WWI, with every advance being small and painful. If the guy was a full Everton player, I'd have a small degree of optimism that he could produce the odd cameo appearance toward the end of next season, and gradually move on from there, but he isn't our player, and we can't invest serious money based on worthy optimism.
Still can’t get my head round the fact that people don’t think he is actually an Everton player!
