2022/23 Dele Alli

As this is the Deli Alli thread, I’d be expecting him to do that if we paid another £10m this season.

Dele Alli is a huge talent but in recent seasons for different reasons his form has fallen off a cliff.
However, form is temporary, class is permanent.

I don't understand how people on here who know absolutely nothing about the player personally can be so certain that he can regain his form or never will do.

Have you met him and spoken to him, listened to him about where he thinks his career is, where he wants his career to go and he he thinks this should happen ?
Have you seen him rehapping or training ?
Is he still a poor trainer as has been reported or is he making the extra effort to get back to his best ?

None of us know this I think but the management team who work with him every day will have formed an opinion and maybe we should wait to see what that is.

Im struggling to think of another player whose career went as downhill as Dele's and came back to anywhere near the same level.

I mean Maradona had his massive ups and downs as did Gascoigne but they never actually stopped their off field frolicks...

For a player like Dele its hard to think of a positive comparison.
Forking out 10/20m on Dele after he finds his mojo here only for him to reject a new deal and bin us off at the end of the season would be very Everton I have to say.
I think hes the type to be grateful to the club and extend.

The question would then be, if he extends is there another payment lol

Imagine the scenario. He does well, we keep him for the season, we pay the requisite £10m.

At the end of the season, we release him... Only to resign him as a free agent 1 month later, Pistone style, avoiding any additional payments.

Unfortunately, Everton dont do sh*thousery like that, and if we do, we usually dont get the last laugh.

But it would be sweet, for once.

Imagine thinking Levy hasn’t put something into the deal to prevent exactly that.

Much of the positivity is based on the interview with Neville. And he addressed some of the issues in particular addiction to prescription drugs which no doubt plated havoc with the training in the past.

If he plays well and is consistent, i honestly couldn't give a toss how much it costs us in extra payments. All i care about is having players putting a big effort in and playing well for us.

Hope he does absolutely boss all season.
This is wishful thinking without any basis in fact
