2023/24 Dele

Well he is back on the grass and Dyche has said he should be back with the squad this week and looking to be available early Jan.

If there is another set back then I get it looks suspicious but he only came back from Turkey due to a hip injury that subsequently needed surgery and then had a set back 3 months ago.

Nothing to suggest his conduct has been poor like people are making out.

Don't think anyone is suggesting that? Some of us are doubting he's physically injured that's all.

Literally 2 separate posters on the previous page said he had poor conduct or was a bad apple.

Then more posts commenting on his lack of desire to play football (which is what I initially responded to because no poster on here knows that).

Someone called him a “turd” like 3 pages ago.

We do know he was injured. And I have no reason to doubt Dyche about that when he has spoken about him recently.

I have to imagine we are running PR interference for him with all these injuries, as we're trying to get his life back in order. Good on the club for that

I can't image he kicks a ball for us in a meaningful game again

As for the "injuries," we certainly have a history of doing this. I mean do you remember when we signed Niasse in January as a much needed reinforcement, only for him to mysteriously be left out of the squad for like 3 months with a "hand injury" after we saw what we actually bought.

I mean come on

Mate you’re shouting at the wall here, these posters aren’t going to change their opinion. Dele was granted a brief respite after his interview and now half the forum is back to ‘he has not desire to play’, ‘he’s faking injuries’, ‘he’s a bad egg’ etc.

What I see, is Dyche talking about him getting back to full training, Dele going to our matches through his own choice and looking happy to be at football again and Dele posting on other players twitter and stuff celebrating wins.

Some on here will just use that to say ‘he’s faking it for another contract’ or something so you’ll never win this one.

I also remember posters writing off Dom who would ‘never kick a ball again’ because Dyche brought him back slowly so as not to rush him and aggravate his injury.

We won’t know the deal with Dele until we see him play, or his contract expires.

meh, I think this is all fairly straight forward.
Injured player also trying to sort out addiction issues while club tries to sort weird contract.
Manager says he's on his way back, also says club is in negotiations with Spurs to iron out contract.
And on top of all that, his performance against palace two seasons ago saved the club tens of millions.
Hopefully the club can work something out with spurs,
failing that, I'd like to see him get an extension next season.

There is absolutely no comparison between Dele's situation and Dom's

None

I think there's still a player there.
I think he's had a torrid time with his personal life and seems to have turned that around.
I think Dyche might be the right manager to get a tune out of him.
I dont blame him for the barmy deal Levy and Kenwright cooked up.

Basically, it now seems clear why his game fell off a cliff
I'd like to see him given a go with out the double albatross of that and the contract round his neck.

One year, coming off the bench for Doucoure when needed.
If it works out, great. If not, well, so be it.

If it meant Spurs didnt get a red cent, (new contract, not extension), and he took a large pay cut, then I wouldnt be too fussed. I doubt either will happen though.

also, no one is going to sign him for $100k a week.
The club could prob get him for half that.
Thats $2.5m for a season. A punt worth taking in the modern game.

Bit like dealing with Arsenal these. They pulled an 'Ipcress file' on Pienaar and then stitched us up with the Dele deal. Moyes had it right treating that duff centre back with suspicion, loan only and then offski. Sides have taken advantage of the poor management and player policy some of the clowns here have been responsible for.

….i’ve no idea, Matey, I try and forget about him.
I'm fairly sure he had surgery after the Turkish season finished, so last Summer in London.
The club then reported a setback and now he's 'back on the grass'.
Seems pretty standard stuff to me.
The contract is a mess but that's not his fault.
He's had issues with sleeping pill addiction, that is his fault and to his credit, he seems to be working his way through it.
I'm not sure where the hostility toward him comes from.
In fact hostility to any player with physical or mental issues bothers me.
It's not like he's morgan Schneiderlin wandering around collecting a fortune.

Unless you think he's faking injury (after surgery) or something?
