2023/24 Dele

I'm personally of the opinion getting the likes of Doucoure playing better is infinitely easier than getting Dele back to the point we pay for him. Maybe that's just me.

But you'd also disagree with anything I say at this point because I called you out for having a really condescending tone an hour ago, and you've just found new angles to push back on. 😅

I'm off out to the match now. Hopefully there's not too much we can disagree on come 4pm this afternoon.

I really don't care if you think I'm condescending. I'm only condescending to people for a reason. I'm also not the only one that disagreed with your post.

I actually don't think the deal has worked for anyone. Everton could never afford to pay the instalments, Dele wasn't in the right place to play that many games, and Spurs will likely receive nothing.

….he was on a big bucks, long-term contract and Spurs got him off their books. We’ve been paying him the big bucks. The deal has worked nicely for Spurs but even nicer for Alli. Only loser is Everton, absolutely no doubt about that.

Which has never been the thing that's bothered me*. Fair play if you don't care, but I would, because there's nothing about you that should enable you to talk to people like crap.

*I actually thought the point about Spurs trying to get any money out of us rather than none was a fair point. You just argued it like an arse.

I dunno, I wouldn't swap the last few years he's had for any money, personally. But maybe the worst out of the lot in a situation that hasn't been amazing all-round, yeah.

It’s a stretch to say they all were in a worse starting point though.
All internationals playing regularly in the top flight of English football, who commanded multimillion transfer fees, not a bad starting point compared to an ex international who hasn’t had a sniff for England for years despite supposedly being in his prime, who couldn’t hold down a spot in the Turkish league and who Spurs were so desperate to be rid of they basically gave him away to the most gullible / desperate pair of clowns they could find.
I do think Dyche would see it as something of a personal challenge to restore Dele to something of his past glory though, I suspect we will know soon enough if even Dyche thinks he’s a busted flush or not.
I think however many times we discuss if Dele is worth another contract or not it is all down to Dele, if he wants to be a good player in the Premier League let him prove it by doing the very best he can by getting fit and having a good go at playing again. If he does he can play again if he fails he can say ‘ Well at least I tried my best’. It’s up to you Dele lad. Make or break.

Not really. Ali is only getting what he would have got at spurs and still no games, Spurs are only not having to pay him but zero chance of a fee and we've got a player we can't really play

The deal is structured to give everyone the bare minimum and leave no one happy

Away from the non-playing side of the issue, is Dele a Dyche player? I'm not sure. I don't think he has the work rate Dyche would want, coupled with his best position clearly being in a free role. Lower division teams seldom have the luxury of affording a player in a free role.

Spurs are not the bad guys, its a business. But nobody benefits, especially Spurs, if Dele leaves for nothing.

They must know he wont play if they stick to their guns as we cant afford it, so tgey stand to gain £0 in the next 6 months. Why not renegotiate it so that Dele plays, we still have to pay up somehow and they get some sort of fee. Maybe one based on a new contract
