This is a strange response considering in what you have replied to, I haven't mentioned anything about 5 year contracts or wages. I've simply stated that there are mitigations for his performances, and once those mitigations have been removed I feel he deserves a chance to prove himself. A reset of sorts. He may turn out to be a busted flush, he's got 6 games to prove he isn't, but I won't be judging him until he's been given that opportunity.

I feel that many people garner an opinion on on others and when things change they simply double down in the hope of shouting how right they were from the rooftops. I'm willing to give him a second chance following what has been a difficult period for him with mental health and physical injury.

We also shouldn't forget that his interview was in the early stages of recovery for him, the very start of what will be an ongoing process. He said himself that he was only coming out with it so early on because if he didn't, the tabloids would have led it with their own narrative.

He is costing us millions and is contributing zero on the pitch. We have just been deducted 10 points for overspending 19.5m .

Roughly have of that would be what we have paid him since he’s been here .

We are having to take out multiple loans just to keep the club running .

We cannot keep him on the books , I’m all for us giving him support etc even if he isn’t under contract , let him keep fit, use the facilities , help him etc.

But as a player for efc? No… no more chances , sorry but we simply cannot afford it. Even if he gets on the pitch and starts to do ok…. We could end up shelling out 40m for him which would make him our second most expensive signing ever…. We simply cannot do it.

Ah ok, by frozen out do you mean making 29 appearances in his last full season for them?

Then making 18 appearances in the first half of the season for them before we signed him in the Jan?

May not have been getting 90 mins, but he certainly wasn’t “frozen out”.

You’re right , we was playing regularly for them and doing well, that’s why they gave him away for nothing …

Even the Turkish club said his attitude was terrible…

Let's never buy a player again. We're THAT skint.

Occasionally, I'll feel a bit stupid if I'm entrenched on a particular position. Doubts will creep in. "Am I right? I'm not so sure any more."

I read this thread and see people doubling down with each subsequent post.

It's going end badly for a few of you.

I'd probably stop signing in here if I was proved so wrong.

Me? I think he may contribute provided he's fit enough for the manager. Fit enough to offer an extended deal? Not my money, no idea, but if he proves fitness and is willing to stay we don't have to money to sign a player of his quality for a fee.

Not my money … that’s what lots of people were saying on here when we were signing bolasie , Morgan, Walcott and co and look where we are now .

He hasn’t shown enough in the 1 and a half years he’s been here to warrant any further commitment imo.

Even if he did get on the pitch it would stink of a player playing for a move/playing for a contract and I would be concerned he would drop off a cliff once one was signed

It's a fair point, but I meant IF the manager and DoF think he's worth a salary, that's up to them. Frankly I trust their judgement over yours.

In the same vien, if they don't fancy him that's fair enough too. On your way, Mr. Dele.

Because of his addiction, that he's dealing with.

I wish I could predict the future. What if he's really motivated to get back to close to where he was?

Nobody knows. It's all speculation. Your post is just backing up my point about people being entrenched in their position, unwilling to consider any alternative.

Were paying his wages regardless plus we have 7 games before any contractual payment is activated to Spurs.

If he is over his mental issues and fit enough we have to use him, especially over the Christmas period.
His ability will still be there its whether he still has the love of the game, if he does then we lose nothing by giving him minutes on the pitch.

I dont think he will ever get back to what he was but even 70% of that would more than good enough to help us this season.

I can think of very few players as long out the game that have come back successfully from similar circumstances - be that physical or mental health or other challenges. Let him go.

June 24 will be another good clear out with Gomes, Dele and Young all leaving!
I'm hoping someone takes Gomes on a free in January
Dele I think in almost certainty will be gone
Young I can see the manager giving him (and Coleman for that matter) another year if they are up for it.

If he doesn't get Dyche fit he will be nowhere near getting a game anyway.

Like most people, training sucks but playing is the fun part.

Beforehand Dele would get a game based on his reputation alone. Not now.

He'll have to be very committed to himself, the club and football itself to even get on the pitch.

If he is truly reformed then he walks into our matchday squad.

He is 27 years old, only had mostly muscular injuries and was a top top player despite the mental baggage he was carrying around.

It's up to him. If he commits 100% I reckon the club will too.
