You would imagine any contract offer would probably be 1 season, 2 years max, and at significantly lower wages.

As I said, I'm surprised we are considering a new contract, but at least if we see him play in pre season we can make a decision based on that.

Its really hard to say, his twitter only has United in it, which is kinda weird for him to suddenly drop a Dele story.

Im inclined to believe him, but await "better" sources.

But it ties into what I told you yesterday.

No fees, sell on clause only.

It seems as tho you spent 2 weeks chatting biscuits about substantial fees for nothing.

Listen. The media previously tried to claim Denise Barrett-Baxendale agreed a "fixed cost" stadium contract because Everton briefed them to claim that. The cost went from £505 million to over £760 million

Everton (Communications Team) have form for making claims that don't match reality. By stretching the truth and then some.

What happens if we have to pay a multi million pound fee in say 10 games? Because they've agreed a "revised payment structure" that defers it until no one is looking?

They've done it before multiple times

Precisely. A "revised payment structure" means there are still fees

Let's see when they are triggered and how much they are. They won't be small.

The problem is the culture at Everton has been one of deceitfulness. What happens if this goes wrong again? Who takes the blame? Because Bill Kenwright never did. We can't be spending millions and then if it goes wrong they get away with it.

Nobody is talking about a revised payment structure Damo, your quotes are out of date.

Everton reach agreement with Tottenham over future payments for Dele Alli - even though the forgotten England star is now a free agent​

Everton have reached agreement with Tottenham so that they are not required to pay a further fee for Dele Alli should they offer him a new contract.

Dele is currently out of contract but has resumed light training with Everton.

Under the terms of his transfer from Tottenham to Everton in January 2022, the north London club were due a significant fee if the 28-year-old agreed a new contract at Goodison Park.



He will be given the chance to prove himself in pre-season. Though is not quite ready to resume full training with the group as yet.

Dele only played 13 times before being sent on loan to Besiktas for the 2022-23 season.

He has not played a competitive match since February 2023 due to a hip injury then a problem with his groin.

The 37-cap England international has still been having treatment for his injury at Everton despite his contract expiring a fortnight ago and has taken part in light training sessions.

Alli has not made a first-team appearance in over a year - which came during his loan at Besiktas - amid a string of problems, including a groin injury.

The midfielder last year opened up on his mental health problems and struggles with addiction since he was last seen on a Premier League football pitch.

He has not played a competitive match since February 2023 due to a hip injury then a problem with his groin.

Its whether he can get fit and stay fit, thats the first thing we and he needs to address.

Wouldnt be shocked to see him break down in pre-season and all this being for nothing.
