Confirmed Signing Demarai Gray

If you took someone like Albrighton from us on the cheap, we’d have a reason to be sour.

But Demarai Gray...nah we’re laughing.

I was laughing when Saints took Walcott off our hands - didnt feel the need to once sign up to their forums and gloat.

As I said it's sour apples as you had big hopes for him and it never worked out.

£1.5 million squad player - I'll av sum of dat.

They both play a minimum of 25 games this season, maybe more. These are not "squad signings" in lieu of better signings, these are our summer signings.

If they are first team players it's underwhelming but if we sign a RW and Townsend is only back it's not too bad. It's clear we have to reduce our wage bill and try and get some value for money back.

So he suited that system which is the style Benitez plays.

There are fans on here who call Lookman a waster, headless chicken, cry baby etc yet I would still have him off the bench everyday of the week over Benard and an out of position Josh King.

Sounds to me like sour apples the amount of Leicester fans feeling the need to come on here and tell us how poor he is...
The expression is sour grapes and every Leicester fan I have read in here has been very respectful and seem genuinely perplexed as to why we are signing Gray. You keep drinking the Kool Aid though, wee man.

Maybe I'm wrong but this has all the hallmarks of the club being mothballed until the stadium is built. At which point Moshiri and Usmanov sell up and walk away with a tasty profit. I think the days of big spending are over. The squad the koppite is building has zero creativity and I am genuinely worried we could end up in a dog fight at the wrong end of the table. The players we have won't be up for that.

No disrespect but this is the mentality I’d expect from a fan of a newly promoted side.

He might be the type of player you need; however for a club like Everton I expect you to aspire higher and get in better. There’s many players out there, who can probably do what Demarai Gray does but better.

As I said, he is the type of player I’d expect Norwich, Watford or Brentford to sign, or even someone like Fulham who want to get promoted straight back into the Premier League.

I see a lot of noise of you hoping to shift Bernard & Iwobi, replacing them with Gray & Townsend is absolutely bizarre from a club like yourselves, you’re just replacing garbage with garbage, who just happen to be cheaper.

This will come across as arrogance, but there’s a reason why Leicester City’s transfer business gets praised. We look to sign young, talented players who will have room to grow, then in the end they’d be sold on for double or triple, then the same cycle starts again.

You need more signings like Ben Godfrey and less cast off signings like Gray & Townsend.

No offence taken at all mate, you make your point and you make it well.

Mentality is an odd thing isn't it? When we had the mentality above, we actually performed as well, if not better than what we do now. I think we have had a big club mentality, but not big club money and certainly not big club performance.

Re Bernard and Iwobi, that is probably fair. I think all of the above are probably similar levels, but there probably does come a point when you have to be pragmatic and look to lower costs. I also think Stylistically they fit the PL better and give us more of what we need. But either way, you can't discount the importance of lowering costs. We will probably get Townsend, Gray and Begovic for less wages than we pay Bernard. Eventually if you keep putting out huge wages on players it catches up with you, and this summer seems to be that moment.

As for Leicester, yes you do. You are in a position to now as well though. You have regular European football and have won trophies plural recently. You have also made big sales, which has given you the liquidity and freedom around FFP to be able to target the next up and coming thing. I don't know if say Leon Bailey would be interested in coming to Everton and with our own issues if there is the flexibility to afford him.

I also think in all of this, there is a question as to what price do you pay for growth? I mean Godfrey is a good signing, but can I see a world where we double our money on him? Yes probably. Treble our money? Unless there is another big inflationary run I don't see it. Look at White, who looks another good defender to me, at our about Godfrey level, has now gone for 50m. If he doubled in value he would have to be the best defender in the world. I mean it's possible, but it feels improbable to me. So you have to be careful what you pay for such players.

We can laugh at ourselves thanks for much ….how many more other clubs forums are you on?
Just this one.

Because as windymiller expertly put, myself and some other Leicester fans are perplexed that you’re signing him, hence the visit ;)

Maybe because I've realised theres more to life than moaning about petty things after 18 months of living in a global pandemic.

Not only that we've just had Carlo Ancelotti as manager and finished 10th + 12th.

We aint as great as some believe and shouldn't be turning our noses up at squad players just because they aint Mbappe and Haaland.

I've told you for years you shouldn't be turning your nose up at the likes of Ings and Zaha and here we are signing lesser players.

Time for you to reflect and atone my boy.
Yes mert, I forgot you spent the last 12 months moaning about Carlo, during a pandemic I may add, only for your fortunes to turn when a fat kopite rat walks through the door.

Strange that
