Confirmed Signing Demarai Gray

Signing squad players who aren't good enough to replace a squad player that isn't good enough just isnt wise business mate.

At least you're admitting that Brands made the mistake in the first place and it is all his fault we are now bargain basement shopping.

CA was our cheat code with transfers, mate. He was the draw for players last year. Now we don't have it.

I think Gray offers us something we don't have and if I had to choose between Iwobi and Townsend for the right (which I do, clearly) then the latter gets the nod cause he can hit a ball.

But, if we have Townsend on say £50k a week (I know, I know, mad) and Gray on £30-40k, and you're probably looking at around the same if not a bit less for Begovic, then in getting Bernard out of the door we've actually got three players in, two of which were needed in the form of Gray (as in, real, direct pace) and a back-up GK.

We need real first-team quality but right now I imagine we literally only have money for the right-back, and that is a priority position.

We also need a midfielder and another forward, but they'll depend on outs.

I liked his line saying he hopes he can cross and shoot and score goals like he did when he was young.

Yeh cheers mate otherwise you're just Wan Bissaka.
To be fair if he does one of those things it puts him in our top 4 midfielders

If he does 2 he’s our second best

Teams will figure that out very quickly and just work on stopping us putting in crosses. Then what do we do?

Well we have more than one way of playing mate.

The issue last year was Carlo didn't work on one - it was if James isn't fit to get it to Digne then we just have to get it to try and win a set-piece.

It's why you keep the quality you do have and have different options.

But all of those options have to result in us getting Dom or Rich on the end of things in the box.

And who's fault is that?

Not the man who is apparently responsible for the last 3 years of transfers who spunked away a load of money on Bernard, Delph, Iwobi, Gomes and Kean.

This is where Brands has led us. Going to be a great next 3 years st this rate.

Do we? With the players we are bringing in and those likely to leave, what is Plan B going to look like? Plan A is obviously crosses and headers.
