2021/22 Demarai Gray

Has Gray been one of our 'better' players under Lampard?

Is he more suited to a counter attacking style than playing in a front foot high pressing attacking team?

From what ive seen, hes someone that thrives when he has space around and in front of him...

...i may be wrong but he doesnt look too keen on pressing or playing in tight spaces. Not to mention that he doesnt fancy tracking back which is leaving our left back exposed.

In an ideal world next season we keep him as a sub for Gordon. But if an offer comes in that is circa £20mil Id take the money and have Dobbin as a rotation option for Gordon down the right.

On the left if we are stuck with Iwobi then he can act as backup to Richarlison. If one or both are sold then it adds to the Gray pot to spread around the team.
He has been one of our better players this season, but maybe not so much under lampard, but has anyone stood out under Frank? Im not so sure they have. Look at Doucoure, he has been shocking under Lampard, inexcusably bad, but i wouldnt sell him either.

With a squad as poor as ours we just cant sell players who can offer something, not with so may who offer nothing

I think it would be good to have him in the squad for next season.

However I also think that the points I mentioned would make him sellable for £20mil.

Great to just punt the poor players but we will need to sell others to fund a rebuild.

£20mil isnt huge money in the grand scheme of things but its about a £19mil FFP profit.

From the season as a while Gray is one of the last people I’d sell, we need good players and profit not just profit.

Needs to get back in form quick but if he does, like he was start of the season up until Arsenal he could be our saviour.

He’s a really good player who adds real quality to our attack when fit. For the price we paid he needs to be an example of how we recruit more in the future. Until we can bring someone in superior to his pace, skill and goal threat from wide I’d be building around him.

Unfortunate that the injury has taken the wind out of his sails when we need him most but he’s put enough in the bank to know he must be kept and platformed to do more with better players around him.

If we sell him for 20m we have had our pants pulled down, look at the players we played more for such as Iwobi, who we will be left with.

When can sell DCL for twice that, and he wont be missed, DCL, Mina, Gomes they are the players i would sell, got a top quality CB and a few lower league players from Blackburn or Forest who both have good players waiting to step up.

Demz Gray 5 goals 2 assists - Can see why Leicester got rid.
Townsend 7 goals 3 assists - Overpriced even for free.

Ant Gordon - 0 goals 0 assists, boss scouse running, best player in Europe
Nail on head mate, all the effort in the world with zero end product. Headless chicken. Hope he comes good as love the guy but needs something to come off very very soon.

7 goals and 3 assists is really good for a free signing. He’s been good value for me. And I didn’t really want him. We all knew what and wasn’t going to offer. Been ok. Nothing special though.

Gordon has 3 goals and 3 assists, but some of his performances have been very good. With him it’s more about his potential to be a great player. Just hope it’s with us in the premier league.

We have quite obviously missed a fully up and running DCL all season.

I do enjoy how people think that Championship clubs are going to sell us their best players for about 20p and some training cones.

I think Townsend only has 3 goals and 2 assists in the league, im
Sure someone posted that, last time that post was up about Gordon having zero goals and assists.

Townsend has scored a lot of his goals v lower league opponents in the cups. Not sure if either Gordon or gray have scored this year in the league.

I saw enough earlier in the season to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Hopefully, the international break was a chance for him to get himself right again. He's got more in his locker than anyone else in this squad, and we're going to need him.

Well if he’s has more in his locker than anyone else
We’re bang in trouble.

I’m not sure he suits a team that wants to keep the ball, counter attacking suits him. But as we seen v Newcastle. Really struggled and so many times he lost the ball making poor decisions. Has also seemed lazy the last 2 games, hopefully that’s fitness.

Maybe if Frank becomes a little more conservative in these away games coming up, he may have a better chance to help the team.

We have two very quick wingers, when fit, in Gordon and Gray and yet we never have them sat on top of defences pinning them back. Always baffles me.
