Getting anything above £9m in terms of profit would be incredible (a profit of 500%).

…unless I’m wrong and we didn’t sign him for £1.5m

One of the most frustrating players ever.

Moments of brilliance, can produce magic out of nothing, but more often than not we are better off playing with ten men than with him. Meaning he is hardly ever a good option from the bench.

If Dyche trusted Gray, he would have started matches on the right side of the midfield. His most natural position in a Dyche team, and it would make it possible to play Iwobi centrally where he is better and more effective. The one time Dyche started Gray as a right midfielder, Holgate was exposed and sent off after not getting any help what so ever from Gray. Not defending Holgate, but playing behind Iwobi/McNeil and Gray is night and day.

There was a reason for Leicester not offering Gray a new contract. There was a reason for why he was sold cheaply to Bundesliga. There was a reason for Leverkusen giving up on him within weeks and were happy to get they money back less than six months after signing him.

Definition of a Youtube player. The 2500 minutes he played for Everton this season is much more than he would play for any other team in the league.

Fulham had James and Solomon on loan this season. James got five starts in the league, Solomon four. They are probably not staying and I guess they see Gray as a cheaper alternative as a squad player.

Surprised if they are willing to pay more than £6-8 million. And Everton should probably sell.

What is enough money to replace him?
I’ve said I quite like him and I think he’s always done his best but under Dyche he’s not been able to contribute because he doesn’t fit the plan.

Let’s say we had £15m to spend on a striker but if we sold Gray for £12m we’d be able to buy a £30m striker (factoring saving on wages) I think that works and would upgrade the squad more than having Gray who doesn’t really fit plus a £15m striker.

No problem selling him as he’s not good enough however we won’t have anyone lined up to replace him. We already need another wide attacker anyway so having to get two would be a stretch.

Why do we need a wide attacker?

The positioning and defensive responsibility McNeil and Iwobi have had since Dyche came in are similar to wing backs in other teams. It is more defensive than what we have seen from Chilwell, Peresic, Porro, James etc. Dyche does not play with wide attackers. Never has.

He signed and had success with Aaron Lennon when he now longer had offensive output. He signed Maxwel Cornet that had impressed as a winger and wing-back for Lyon, but mostly used him as a centre forward.

We bought him for, what, 1.7m? I'd be cashing in all day long. The club needs to start making prudent - and ruthless - decisions.
