I've got some sympathy for him.
Dyche doesn't fancy him. Fair enough.

But not playing him pre-season, signing replacement, not giving him squad number + then telling him were not selling him isn't great.
It could've been handled better imo.

Keanes only started 12 out of 22 games under dyche this thing about him being his favourite and always picked is a bit silly. We’ve got no idea what’s happened with gray maybe dyche has frozen him out maybe gray has been the one to do it maybe the club has told dyche not to pick him to make sure we could sell him or maybe he really hasn’t been fit like they said. As usual people have just decided who they want to be at fault and are talking about like it’s definitely true even though they don’t know.

It is silly though keanes started 12 games and people say he is dyche’s favourite and grays started 8 games and they say he clearly never wanted him from the off and he never gave him a chance people just see what they want to see.

Good managers are ruthless. No matter who the player, nor who you have as back-up, if they are not willing to sacrifice for the team or don't have the right attitude then you should be frozen out and shipped off. C.f Aubamayang, Cancelo etc. So I don't mind this from Dyche.

On the other hand, the rest of the squad have to be fully behind you otherwise you risk mutiny, and we're not in a position where we can lose bodies, so becomes a question of whether you stick to your principles or adapt to the circumstances. Tough one

Either way I think Gray offers very little, so don't think it will hurt us much at all

Bad managers are ruthless too. Benitez binned off players to our detriment as well. Gray ain't the best but our already wafer thin squad is getting thinner. We will have Danjuma, McNeil and Harrison for the wide positions, three players for two positions, unless you think Garner looks good out wide. Hint - he doesn't.

This looks like Dyche has told him he's not part of his plans and to get his agent to find a club.
This would be dependent on Gnonto or another being brought in.

No one comes in so Gray is then told he can't leave now.
Lad throws a strop when he's told he will be reintegrated in the squad after being shunned for weeks.

Dyche is at fault for a lot of this , making him train alone when we needed bodies for the early games.

The reality is we have no idea what has happened. All we know for sure is that Gray wasn't training with the first team, wasn't involved in any pre-season activities and wasn't considered for our first four games. It was also clear that he was for sale. Maybe all of that was at Gray's insistence, maybe it was at the boards, maybe it was Dyche. In any case, the whole thing is very unlikely to result in a good relationship between the player and the club. It's another example of how poorly the club is run and is yet another sad story with no good outcomes for any party.

Or, we could keep a right sided winger, who is under contract, at the club until January.
