2023/24 Demarai Gray

No different to people taking Grays insta post at face value and deciding its true he’s been disrespected or whatever it was.
I personally think they’re both probably true, Gray no doubt feels disrespected (whether he has justification or not is the real question) and Dyche by the sounds of it thinks he / the club have been disrespected by a contracted player telling him he’s off (and won’t be training etc) rather than negotiating an exit properly.
Dyche probably has more to lose by being dishonest in all this and should be quite easy to expose as a liar.
Equally Grays initiated the airing of this dirty laundry, (post now deleted btw) so why not explain what Dyche has done to offend him and let the fans ‘who have always been great to him’ decide? Nothing to lose at this point in exercising his right to reply.
If I’m honest the fact Gray added that bit about the fans was a red flag to me anyway, classic BS manipulation to try to get people to pick sides at a time when there’s clear angst towards Dyche give the dreadful run of results.
If someone is being defamatory they can sue each other and deposit the damages in the former players charity like Rooney v Moyes
100% agree with all this. There's poo being flung on both sides. Just a sad outcome for all involved really.

So let me get this right

Gnotto wants to leave leeds, Leeds say no, the player then scored on him return to the team after fans turned on him for wanting to leave and then he stays at Leeds after the window ends because the Leeds board don’t have to sell him and their valuation was not met

We then have Gray who was told that he wouldn’t be sold, turned on the manager with a public statement on instagram and then we’ve backed down and sold him to Saudi Arabia outside of the transfer window when we have an already depleted squad

This club is a joke with no backbone
Think the club has always appeared to have a policy of everyone is for sale for the right fee. (Not always the fee fans might feel is right btw)
Seems like whatever Gray negotiated (without the clubs permission apparently) didn’t meet that criteria.
If anything I’d say they’ve shown backbone for once by not simply acquiescing.

They said that after their options were limited and the only place to sell was Saudi.

Motivation for his agent to get the buying club to up the offer.

Dyche doesn’t want him. Never did. That much is obvious.

Also don’t understand the fascination with Gray. We have at least 4 better players in that spot at the moment. He’s Andros Townsend without the work rate.
The lad has history for this sort thing, our board has history of selling players and not investing. This outcome was nailed on.

We could still have done with the extra squad option as limited as Gray is. In a nutshell and from whatever angle you look at it, this is just another sad reflection on the critical state of the club.

Dyche decided he had to reply in public. I'm not sure he had to do that and could have done so privately but obiviously so as to send his clear message. The problem with this is is can now occur again with gray or others.

However if dyche decided it was essential to reply publicly then you have to back him.
Discipline is essential for a club and team. The weak and softies get eaten alive and might as well pack their bags immediately if they don't maintain it as they have zero chance of being successful.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of his situation with Everton, any player going to Saudi Arabia in his peak years is basically not interested in playing at the top level of the game. This move clarifies the true motivations of Demarai Gray, and I for one am pleased to have that flushed out, because, frankly, he was a prime example of why we were at the bottom of the table during his tenure: a low-rent mercenary of mediocre ability. In summary, he is a failed Premier League player. We need rid of these chancers - but I'm pretty sure the solution is not to fall out with them but to sign better players in future.

The fee is half decent, the disappointing thing is it’ll disappear. We only spent £3m this window, and including the Kean money which appears to have gone in this summer as opposed to Jan, we’ve banked about £65m when all the youngsters are taken into account too. Some of that simply has to be ringfenced for Danjuma and Harrison, but it won’t be.

And yet here we are one injury away from Michael Keane starting PL matches.
