Begs the question who our no 1 striking target is? Nzogbia?
Thanks again to LCAB and THT for keeping us in the picture, instead of the cack we read in the papers.
That's a fair post like , but I now can't see us signing any decent name because it will cost more with the fee, I think if Moyes was even interested I doubt his knees would be an issue , look at Lescott for example , I think we will be left to rue this next season but I hope your right and iam wrong , I think he's different class myself, on Saha's level which we won't get without a 12million transfer fee
ah well, there's better fish in the football pond, so-to-speak.
It hasn't actually been confirmed yet he's signed for the toon. You may still get your way.
50k a week is 13 mill over 5 seasons - 2 mill signing on fee/agent snizz - so would cost us 15 mill over 5 years.
Newcastle give him 75 k a week which is touching 20 mill over 5 years a signing on fee of 2 mill - so all in all will cost them 22mill + - what does that do to the Carroll money.
All for Demba Ba - a good player not a great player - dodged a bullit here.
Gary,
I'm going to use a bit of history with you.
1997

Martin Dahlin played less than a full season for Blackburn, after transfering for £2.5million.
He scored 4 goals. Got injured. Had to retire.
Got injured. It went to court because the insurer wouldn't pay out.
Cost Blackburn £4.5million
Consider Ba. At £75k a week
(£2million agents and 3years x 4million contract to player)
That's £12 MILLION if Ba had of gotten injured and his knees.
(£9million if he'd of gone for our wage demand)
Imagine the outrage if that of happened. Everton lose £9million. Big hit to us.
I think Everton may well of gone higher. Except there's other things in play. A TRADEOFF. Our budgets, insurance, his agents etc.
Let Newcastle take the risk I say.

*shudders*
1997. yikes.
Woy's quotes there about Martin Dahlin 2.5million should be considered.
27games and 4 goals later - he left Blackburn after an injury in a training game....
Imagine that and Ba. £5million down the drain ?
Could we get insurance ? Due to his knee history ?
Dahlin, evenutally cost Blackburn £4million !
Ba could have been more?
kenada_blue;856870[B said:]Don't make out we dodged a expensive bullet with this one.[/B] It was a good deal that came about with him and by the sounds of it he'd be in an Everton shirt if the barcodes hadn't offered him a stupid wage we couldn't match.
Does anyone really think Newcastle will finish ahead of Everton this year?
