I'd quite like it if we became a bruiser headed goal team to be honest, I don't mind that at all as long as it's good football to set it up.

Nah, they bought Sabella and the rumor was they were offered Maradona at the same time. But everyone involves denies it and given that at the time Maradona was already making a name for himself, I'm willing to believe them.

I think it's possible they made a bid for him but couldn't stump up enough cash or something like that, though.
The national manager now.

It used to be good to watch us pummel teams at Goodison. Too often these days visiting sides have got away without a scratch on them. I wouldn't mind us beefing things up a bit either.

Eriksson bought players for City by watching them on video, so he might not even pay much attention to trialists.
A lot's being made of this trial.Eriksson probably wasn't looking for a physical player good with his back to goal hence his bid for Beckford

I found this link on another forum, thought it might shed some light on his background!

Traca is surprisingly competent in his ball control and can play neat passes to teammates in danger areas. Like Andy Carroll or Mark Viduka, he can be useful to his team even when he is not scoring lots of goals. He should be effective in this Everton side as a back-to-goal number nine, holding up the ball to enable the attack-minded midfielders to surge forward. As a finisher, he is all about power. From his booming headers to his close- to mid-range shots and penalty kicks that almost break the back of the net, he does enjoy thumping the ball home.

Sounds promising.

The Vélez transfer was blocked by AFA, the league’s governing body, as the local transfer window had officially closed, allowing the English club to sign ‘Traca’ on a one-year loan deal, with the option to buy the player upon completion of the loan period. The figures involved have not been disclosed.

Hmmmmmm?

Clearly not the greatest source, but a glimmer of hope.
