Because Lukaku is a complete player who cannot possibly improve in any way?
Of course he can improve but what has he done so wrong so far? His distribution hasn't been great certainly, but it's not like his fluffing chances and his first touch is actually improving from what I've seen.

How to put himself about. (He should be bullying defenders that are marking him)
How to hold on to the ball when it's been played up to him. (He loses possession too often)
How to show the fans that even if things aren't going his way it won't be because he's not trying. (He often looks lazy)

So you'd prefer him to turn into a workhorse rather than be a thoroughbred goalscorer, that's just odd.

Stracqualursi may well have shown commitment but he lacked any control or technique, he was never a goal threat like Lukaku, which is were a strikers real value to the team is. I think your perception of Straq is quite clouded in sentiment based on 1 game and a few tears.

I must watch different games to some people, because according to some, Rom loses the ball every time it goes to him

Not at all. I can just recognise that what made Straq have an impact at the time is what Lukaku is lacking at the moment. Lukaku is clearly the better player overall with a lot of potential, but for me he's not showing enough of it at the moment and he should be working to improve his weaknesses.

He's been a little anonymous, but I think what he's receiving from the midfield isn't helping. He's holding the ball up fairly well but his link up play leaves a little to be desired.

If a video montage was made of all of the clumsy touches he has made when the ball was played up to him it then it would tell a different story. Using video clips that show a few seconds of a player to prove a point doesn't really prove much at all.

lol

No it wouldn't.... Lukaku's goal against Arsenal would still exhibit better ball control than anything Denis ever did.

This is the player who when one on one in the penalty area actually hit the ball INTO the keeper and it deflected into the net. His 'ball control' was diabolical.

Don't think it's helped him being shunted out to the right hand side a lot. Basically a new position for him (If you exclude Arsenal away last season, and to a lesser extent, Man U away where he caused problems for Vidic on the flank.)

And ffs, if i hear one more person moaning Lukaku doesn't run enough....

The lad weighs over 200 pounds, he's not built to be a workhorse and chase defenders all day. Putting 'pressure' on the defenders by wasting energy and getting nothing from it is utterly pointless.

I'd love for somebody to show me all these examples where a striker running after the centre halves has led to loads of goals. Because i've yet to see it.

Nais has reaped most of the benefit of that set up and Martinez has persisted with it longer than it's been effective, I think. We should be catering to the most prolific 21 year old in the league really.

Suarez....cough cough cough.

Of course it would. You wouldn't watch a video of him miscontrolling the ball hundreds of times and then come away thinking he had a great touch.

Basing your opinion of a player on highlights clips doesn't tell the full story. Otherwise Mcfadden and Bilyaletdinov would be ranked among Everton's best ever players.

Suarez....cough cough cough.

Possibly. I don't remember loads of examples. And the lad weighs 30lbs less than Rom.

It's just not realistic for people to expect him to chase after the ball all the time. It's not his game. Anichebe used to do that under Moyes and the big cart would be exhausted five minutes after coming on.
