Of course it would. You wouldn't watch a video of him miscontrolling the ball hundreds of times and then come away thinking he had a great touch.

Basing your opinion of a player on highlights clips doesn't tell the full story. Otherwise Mcfadden and Bilyaletdinov would be ranked among Everton's best ever players.

I never said Lukaku had a great touch. You're now arguing points i never made. I simply said Lukaku's goal against Arsenal exhibited better ball control than anything Denis ever did, and that's completely true.

Possibly. I don't remember loads of examples. And the lad weighs 30lbs less than Rom.

It's just not realistic for people to expect him to chase after the ball all the time. It's not his game. Anichebe used to do that under Moyes and the big cart would be exhausted five minutes after coming on.
Sorry Bryn, I was being a pedant.

And ffs, if i hear one more person moaning Lukaku doesn't run enough....

The lad weighs over 200 pounds, he's not built to be a workhorse and chase defenders all day. Putting 'pressure' on the defenders by wasting energy and getting nothing from it is utterly pointless.

I'd love for somebody to show me all these examples where a striker running after the centre halves has led to goals. Because i've yet to see it.

I agree, especially when playing lone striker

Not at all. I can just recognise that what made Straq have an impact at the time is what Lukaku is lacking at the moment. Lukaku is clearly the better player overall with a lot of potential, but for me he's not showing enough of it at the moment and he should be working to improve his weaknesses.

What impact did he actually have? There was zero end product from him, he was about as dangerous as a kitten with a ball of wool. He had one game were he played okay and bundled a ball in, he made Brett Angle look threatening.

As a team were playing a lot slower and deeper than we were last season, as a result Lukaku is dropping deeper to get the ball and be involved. Like I said earlier play to his strengths higher up the pitch and with more pace and then you'll see the best of Lukaku, not by simply asking him to run round more, that's the sort of neanderthal tactics Big Sam and the likes ask of players.

Apparently running around a lot while the defenders pass the ball around you and scoring one goal in 19 games as a striker is 'having an impact'.

Oh, and crying.

Would you describe Drogba at his best as lazy?

Who has said that?

Putting pressure on defenders and moving intelligently in the box (I'm not saying that Straq was great at this) isn't the same as asking him to 'run round more'.
