We no longer have nhs dentists around Swindon. They've all given up. Wrote to my local tory mp asking him to help me find one. He wasn't interested and just said thr government were making improvements. I wrote back stating that 1 extra dentist for 80 million people can and would be described as an improvement and I invited him to define what the government's definition of improvement would be.

He's ignored any letter since. I guess I'm not worth his trouble as a vote, since the government media will get far more votes from their pool of stupid.

FYI - no dentist has suggested to me to see a hygienist for about 15 years. Doesn't need to be that regular.

My sister became a dentist when I was about 10. She hammered home the importance of brushing twice a day, but that was a faff. I decided to do a lifelong experiment brushing only before I go to bed.

The only treatment I've needed as an adult, 47 years later, has been to replace loose fillings put in there by an overzealous driller we had when living in manchester as a kid. I think back now, whether he was just creating business.

I've lost 2 molars - cracked in separate incidenrs by stones in tesco loaves.
I had an NHS Dentist for over 30 years & he retired - never once gave me Dental Hygiene - Lucky to just get my family in with our new Dentist of 5 years & we all had awful gum disease - seen his hygienist back then It was about 6 years ago ÂŁ35.00 NHS - now no gum disease, in any of our teeth - brilliant - My wife has just come back & she told him to go easy as he is a new hygienist - so he went a bit easier on her ....
I know people in my area who cannot get a NHS dentist - I was lucky as this new Dentist was just starting up probably the best dentist I have ever been too - his hygienist come & go without that Dental Hygiene it really is a necessity for healthy teeth ....

I think Joey went to the “dentist” and got sold a diesel powered “toothbrush” with a kickstart engine.
My Dentist is a great NHS guy - He has Dental Hygienist on contracts - TBF a private NHS Hygienist is twice the price ....

The NHS Dentist will be disappearing with the Tory greed - My Dentist stated to me if run properly he can make money - in fact he has opened another surgery - no waiting list when I joined - now it's 3 years .....
