I find going to the hygienist more painful than the actual dentist nowadays. At least you get some anesthetic when seeing the dentist.

I've not liked any of the last 2 or 3 hygienists i've seen as they seem to be quite brutal and condescending / patronising at the same time.

I also get the impression they just see you as a money making machines for themselves

I have had five different ones at the same NHS Dentist it is an unpleasant experience, but vital to avoid gum disease etc today's experience was brutal one hour ?
Maybe a novice as the others were far more gentle thet took about 30 minutes too..
My main worry is any protective enamel on my teeth he has destroyed it!

I actually refused my last follow up hygienist appointment and said I dont mind seeing the dentist twice per year instead.

My dentist is great and is also far more qualified that the hygienist in all things to do with teeth and gums so rather visit her twice as often per year instead for her experience and expertise. Appreciate not everyone has this opportunity though what with the shortage of dentists etc

The Hygienist told me to make an appointment in 6 months I made it 12 months & I will ask to see the lady Hygienist next time - he was brutal!
My heath is not that great anyway so I may not see either.....MRI scan soon ...

I do - 8 speed brush - twice a day - surly you need enamel on your teeth - he just went Bananas - TBH it normally takes 1/2 an hour he spent 1 hour .... I refused to have that every 6 months .... 12 months is adequate imo ....

I had a polyp removed from my stomach with less pain, FGS only last October ..... no pain at all ......
Ah… but did you brush your polyp twice a day ?
