Transfer Rumour Denzel Dumfries

I think Inter have an eye on Bellerin available for around £15-20m.

I think Dumfries would counter balance Digne in a attacking wing back role but we are guessing if Benitez will favour a 3 man or flat back 4.
If we are playing wing backs then Denzel's your man.
4 at the back - well I'm sure that we have better options already at the club ( and that's saying something !)

I keep hearing this but I care about outcomes (and recent outcomes preferably), Bruce's outcomes are, to all intents and purposes, identical to Benitez's. I don't see any reason to believe that Benitez will somehow revive our fortunes. Bruce wouldn't either, they're both crap.
And yet arguably Bruce has had better players. Nothing to do with Benitez. But your argument doesn't hold up.

….I doubt Benitez’s appointment is anything to do with ‘reviving our fortunes’, I think it’s more to do with keeping us safe & steady.

Do I like Dumfries from the little i've seen, yes. That said a large part of what I liked about the Everton connection was the price. If the number increases the rationale becomes a bit different. If a deal is settled fine but at 25 in his prime, growth of improvement may be limited. And a sample in the dutch league and a spurt at the euros, its not the best grounds for confidence at 20 million. Possible small sample size theater, thats at its pinnacle right now.

A case for it is the position pool generally. There arent a lot of quality RB's from my estimation that fit present need but could improve. Baku is likely out of our consideration. Celik has some red flags, although the Lille financial issues is a major caveat in exploring that option. There other names of course but few are world beaters or gettable. We shall see.

Would that be like saying BFS and Carlo are similar level managers then?
Fair point but I would point out that both Benitez and Bruce had multiple seasons each in charge at Newcastle, whereas Ancelotti and Allardyce had just over 2 seasons between them at Everton.

Nothing will be the same (except everything).

People will come in here stating that we are getting a shiny new stadium. That's true. The same people will then say we can't possibly improve for a decade after we build the stadium because of the costs associated with paying for the stadium. So, as far as many are concerned, we shouldn't expect any success for 15 years. I wonder if having an oligarch owner and a new stadium is worth a hill of beans, to be honest.

…I think the stadium puts us in a very strong position, Moshiri knows that which is why he’s after stability.

Just seems a bit risk averse but I get it given our debts and the stadium build but there are quite a few managers who could keep us safe. Also I will judge RB as I do any other manager, we should be in the battle for European places minimum...

I just don't understand how? I understand how the stadium is a massive positive from Moshiri's perspective. It makes his asset massively more saleable. However, from a sporting perspective I can't see how the stadium substantially changes our prospects as a club. The revenue it will generate is small beer compared with TV revenues so we're not going to become much richer in terms of turnover. I guess you could argue that it will change the perception of our club globally but if the cost for that is a decade or more of treading water then I'm not convinced it is worth it, add to that the debt burden it will place on the club and I worry that this is yet another false dawn. For every Man City there is a Sunderland and Bolton.
