Transfer Rumour Denzel Dumfries

I personally thought he distinctly average. Had one somewhat decent year and was poor the rest of it.
But our fans love a hard man, and he lived up to it (even though he wasn’t).

Didn’t want to sign, made us stump up more in wages and when the big games came, never showed up.

Wouldnt say his entire career with us was stellar but he did win player of the year and had his moments of quality. Weird example IMO.

Van Der Meyde n the over hand...

It’s the perfect example… in that Dumfries wants to go to Inter (if you believe the papers). Heitinga also didn’t want to join us, and tried to not come here, but we stumped up enough wages to make him change his mind.

Heitinga played for us, didn’t get going at all for what, two seasons? If Dumfries doesn’t want to be here, then make a move for someone who actually wants to come, that’s the main point of my argument.

If you wait for him, who’s waiting for Inter, is that the player you really want?

Reeks of John Heitinga, who didn’t want to come here, and he was a nightmare too.

If he’s on board, and we can afford it, then fine. But don’t want a lad coming for a payday.
Nightmare I thought he was really good for 2 of the 4 seasons he was here. And if I remember we had a few injuries at CB in his first season and had quite a few different partners including Lucas Neil.

And one season when jags came back from injury, he played quite a bit in midfield

Without Grealish, 100% agree.

Grealish is one of the best players in the league and has carried Villa for 2 years.

Bailey, I think will be a good signing, but no Grealish is a huge drop off in quality for Villa.
Yeah but Baz says Bailey is ace so they starting well on the build....
Seriously though, I think they could well be alright if they actually get their targets done.. Unlike us.

They are in a situation where their hand is being forced. They cannot replace Grealish with a similar level of player. They have to try and spread the workloal to cover the loss.

I actually think they have bought quite well and got a few players I liked. Only time will tell.

like we did when Lukaku left and like Spurs did when Bale left. It might work but will need time to gel

So you would of kept grealish and not signed buendia, young, Bailey, ings? They’ve made 3 good signings and also young will do a job. Surely that’s made them stronger than keeping grealish.
