Middlesbrough...

Great Yarmouth. [Poor language removed] hole of a town populated by junkies, inbreds, old people, single mothers, chavs, dole scroungers, boy racers, holiday makers and Jim Davidson.

Nice place :(

Most depressing place I have ever been, has to be Katoomba, a small town in the Blue Mountains in Australia. Stayed there in a hotel in 2006 when on holiday in Oz. Very strange atmosphere about the whole town. Felt like if I had travelled back some 100 years in time and landed in the middle of some B movie. Would've been a perfect place for the shooting of 'Twin Peaks'.

agree on that one dt, went there by train , arrived after dark and a mist had decended, very eerie place it was. prob stayed in the katoomba hotel too ? we just got very pissed and smoked a lot during our stay. mountains, view yeah great lets go get some ale. we met some locals in some other pub there and they were very weird, lots of witchcraft and black magic goings on by all accounts.

Youngstown, OH - The population has dropped from about 60K to 20K since 1980.

Galloway, WV - I drove through this town once. Its just a collection of about 100 or so delipated trailers on the side of a hill. Only about 1/2 of them have actual doors instead of a piece of plywood. Plus the trailers are packed so close together that closelines are all strung up inbetween them.

The good news, you could buy a house for $9900. I pay more for rent in a year

Galloway, WV home for sale - Yahoo! Real Estate

Colorado City, AZ - a town run by a reglious cult.

Yes stayed in the katoomba Hotel. Believe there were only two pubs. One night we went for a beer at the one in the town centre. Nothing to do, except for 4 younger lads playing a game of pool. A t 9 pm, all of a sudden people start coming in. Apparently there was some kind of disco organised upstairs, for the locals and that was quite massive for the them. Started talking to a couple of birds and before long I knew her entire life story. Who she liked and who she hated in Katoomba, including names. Very interesting to know, not!

The other pub was just outside of town, at the railway station. Went in there on a Saturday. Was even worse than the one in the town centre. Very strange kind of people in there. Didn't feel that comfortable in there, not as in threatened, but it just didn't feel right.

Also walking from Katoomba hotel to the mountains, I felt like I was watched by all inhabitants of Katoomba, As a stranger you just stood out. Wearing designer casual clothes, didn't help my case also, I guess. Was by far the weirdest experience in Australia and only about 100 miles from Sydney. When talking to one of the locals, he said a lot of young people left Katoomba to make a career in sydney. Can't think of a single reason why they would do such thing.:lol::lol:
