Depressing towns!

Youngstown, OH - The population has dropped from about 60K to 20K since 1980.

Galloway, WV - I drove through this town once. Its just a collection of about 100 or so delipated trailers on the side of a hill. Only about 1/2 of them have actual doors instead of a piece of plywood. Plus the trailers are packed so close together that closelines are all strung up inbetween them.

The good news, you could buy a house for $9900. I pay more for rent in a year

Galloway, WV home for sale - Yahoo! Real Estate

Colorado City, AZ - a town run by a reglious cult.

that is close when you rename clotheslines as closelines.

Didn't Paul Simon write 'Homeward Bound' when he was sitting on the platform at Widnes station?

Another nomination would be Irlam. I grew up nearby and got the bus and train through there going to school in the sixties and seventies. One massive steel works that closed in 1971, I think. Absolutely no reason for it to exist now - it's even more depressing today. It's near Eccles but stinks of (not tripe) but sheer pointlessness.

He did yes.

Widnes has nothing, doesn't even have many restaurants or bars, the only nightclub it had was closed down and we still don't have a cinema or anything slightly fun such as bowling lol.

Widnes is a depressing place, mate. You sort of pass through really, without ever having the inclination to stop there. I think I might have watched a rugby game there when I was kid, but then again maybe not. You just don't entirely recollect times spent in Widnes. It's a nonentity really. Isn't there a golf club there?

At least in a kind of grimy, urban, polluted kind of way, Runcorn has some charm.

I always hated Warrington :@

Widnes, Ditton and Warrington.

Get the prozac out, mate! :D

You go warrington much, Work in Debenhams in the new shopping centre.

I've not been into the centre of Warrington for about 10 years. So it's got a new shopping centre. To be honest, it was never a dump or anything. It just always seemed completely devoid of atmosphere. I used to work there at Sheffield Insulations, probably about 20 odd years ago! Good people in Warrington, though.

Yeh the new shopping centre is lovley, completley demolished most of the old one, though the other way of town down near asda and that is just dead now.

The old was pretty dire. One thing about Warrington, it's got a cool looking town hall.
