What about Allan vs Newcastle

That was an upgrade to award a red card.

VAR cannot award a yellow card where a yellow card wasn't already given. Only a red card can be given on VAR, or a yellow card where a red card was wrongly awarded.

It's complicated. But in short, it's a woeful system not fit for purpose, which is aimed at helping big teams and creating entertainment.

Moyes getting stuck into Clattenburg.
Moyes hammering Poll after that Arsenal game.
Our and others stance against the European super league.

Pigeons home to roost, "how dare you speak up for yourself!"

It sound like a kangaroo court making its own rules up as it goes along

VAR was meant to improve officiating. I’d suggest it’s made it worse.
I always said VAR would just make the game worst, all that was ever needed and i still stick to it was Goal Line cameras, I am not into this thing either were you hear people saying ex players would make good Refs just because they have played the game, it wont for me, that Bruno one a few years ago were they got a pen at villa when it should have been a free kick to villa had the likes of Robbie savage say it was still a pen despite seeing it on screen which was truly mental

Technology aides officials in other sports perfectly well, with prime examples being tennis, cricket and rugby to name a few. It even works fairly well abroad.

The elephant in the room is how it's implemented by the PGMOL and how they, as a closed shop, continue to facilitate their terrible decisions with impunity.

Look beyond Everton and you see it all the time; it's on the TV every week (albeit less than the start), fills radio commentary and is a prominent talking point.

Our own examples are ludicrous: off the top of my head you've got the Spurs handball; Gordon's penalty; City handball; the lack of a foul this week.

If there's a potential issue, show it live on the screen and/or make the commentary between the official public. Why don't they do it? We know the reason why.

I take it you mean the handball by Dele Alli?

That was one of the worst VAR calls there's been in the league. He just punched the corner away like he was Hugo Lloris lol

He basically said, the referee reckoned they were both pulling so VAR didn’t give it but if the referee did give it “I am one hundred percent confident that VAR would’ve cleared it” - direct quote from Sky Sports.

So he’s saying, it’s a penalty and VAR wouldn’t have stopped it being given as a penalty but because Michael Oliver decided he didn’t fancy giving it they didn’t overrule him ON WHAT WAS A PENALTY and left the red card to stand which ultimately lost us the game rather than gave us the chance to be 2-0 up.

But they didnt have a single camera angle (when Sky have every single angle covered) that shows Richarlison pulling his shirt, because he didnt.
Same as Liverpool penalty, Gallacher came on and stuck up for ref when Gordon was fouled.
He's their puppet, part of the storyline, and SKY roll him out on a Monday as if he knows better so must be true.
Complete bollocks as usual.

I remember Liverpool scoring a goal earlier this season when the ball was crossed to the back post, Salah handled it Henry style, then played it across to someone who finished it. VAR looked at it but because the handball wasn’t by the person who scored the goal they couldn’t then rule it out for that. So the goal stands even though a referee can see a slow motion replay of a player handling a ball that lead to a goal.

There’s always some ex ref straight out after these games though saying why ‘technically’ the ref had no choice but to make the wrong choice in favour of the big club that he did.

It’s all just a match fixing corrupt cesspit now. The game has gone, tv money and gambling has ruined it.

The idea of VAR is not the issue

To correct decisions that everyone unanimously agrees are obviously wrong.

Not all fouls are yellow cards and no matter what the rules say, a certain foul outside the area is not always a foul inside the area because of the threshold it must meet to be worthy of a penalty and likely a goal. The way VAR currently works is to give referees a second look at obvious errors. I can not recall one time where a referee went to the touchline to review the video and stuck with his original decision.

I think they could change the rules for VAR next season, as they changed the offside rules from last season, to review more things and allow the on field referees to stick with their original decisions.
Not havin that mate. A foul is a foul. It doesn't matter where on the pitch it takes place. If it's a foul in the centre circle, it's a foul in the box, end of.

The "both players were grappling" arguement also doesn't excuse a foul. It's like two players fighting for the ball, if one goes in too hard or against the rules, it's a foul. The defender clearly over steps the jockeying/close contact side of challenge and pulls him back, stopping him from getting the ball.

They don't have any valid excuses.
