Can't find that about the replacement. Only seen that he wasn't for sale, no asking price mentioned.

Nevertheless he became available for cheaper afterwards and if we were seriously interested you'd have thought we'd go back in for him.

Very true, but think we got carried away with Keane being the answer to that position and not imagining Williams form would nose dive.

Actually, we did make an offer to PSG for Cavani, but it was too late in the window and allowed not enough time for negotiation and necessary contract talks to be concluded.

To say a bid was not made it incorrect.

If you had suggested it was a last-gasp effort, you would be correct.

I agree it's the same as asking a fit but older bird out that is out of your league and getting rejected, then asking her even fitter younger friend out while she is standing right next to her. However don't ask, don't get.

It is true though.

So we bid when it was clearly not enough time to actually so any sort of deal?

Considering We ended up with no centre forward that is amazingly amateur. Seriously though that is poor from the board, a joke!

If there was a bid then I stand corrected , have no inside knowledge so can only choose to believe the media.

Not what I heard

Still if he doesn’t come after us telling him name his price, and the spend guarantees he was looking for, I’m going to be well disappointed

It’s all about the potential compo towards Athletico now

Spend guarantees are irrelevant when we seem totally incompetent at actually signing players.

We could have four hundred million to spend, this ain't Fifa.

No one would disagree with you there mate, but part of the problem is it seems we are trying too hard to get players we are unlikely to get. We have to understand where we are and go for players who will come to us now.
Yeah I agree. I think there is a massive divide between the players we want and the ones we get.

The summer out of context so to speak was better buy still it did bring the best player in a crap team here rather than a key player in a good team. Chelsea bought the champions best player, United bought the second highest scorer in the league. Our players although individually good signings were not exactly improving much more than how bad the overall squad was to begin with. That's a basic look at it though

Whilst I fully endorse the sceptism, it is vaguely interesting that his chairman felt the need to come out with a statement at all. Just saying like.
It could literally have just been off the cuff. "Thanks for the interview, btw, have you heard the rumours of Everton being interested in Simeone?"

"yeah, he's not going anywhere, it's nonsense".

Agree, context is everything. It could have been (and probably was ) the equivalent of " HaHa. If you like ,lad ".
Still in lieu of any other news it bears a cheerful consideration, if ultimately fruitless.
