Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

I get the feeling you want to say more mate. From my experience of being a part of this forum, there is lots of good lads here who are not only good listeners but can give sound advice and support. Also, sometimes its good to get a few things off your chest.

Sorry to hear about your wife's condition.

Thanks for your interest. I hope time will come to talk about it. In the meantime I will gather my thoughts... but I will remember your words.

This is what I have recommended to me, start a hobby, do something to get out of the viscous circle.
Its certainly a start and takes you and your mind away from your problems. Yes it could be a temporary fix, but it gives your body a breather and is certainly a start. To have the weight lifted, even for a short time would feel good.

I just feel it would help as you're concentrating on something else. A sport like Golf would be perfect for example.

My problem is my health and any type of physical activity (even walking from the living room to the kitchen) leaves me shattered, hence me looking for a more sedentary activity. The lady I spoke to suggested that it would be a plus if I could just go out for a coffee to start off.

@Jarek Pardej , this thread is just one reason why GOT is the greatest "football" forum. So glad you have found it, this thread I mean.

Lads(Lids!) will be sympathetic, and non-judgemental. We are not professionals, but listeners, many of whom have had, and do have, issues with mental health.

I hope you find it helpful. God bless to your wife.

Excellent.

Anything which is a break from the normal routine is basically what i was suggesting. Different surroundings can really do wonders.

Any hobbies lad ?

Anything you've always fancied doing or quite liked the idea but for whatever the reason, couldn't get to try/do it ?
nah set in my ways now. will be going to watch the blues more this season. its the health issue which will take time. and thanks for the 'lad' made me chuckle.

Set in your ways?? I know what you mean by that but could you explain why ?

Excuse my ignorance if youve already said before but what health issues mate? If you dont mind me asking. I understand if you dont want to share on a public forum though.

All Evertonians are lads as far as im concerned. We sometimes might disagree but we're all the same.

no problem. im in remission from cancer. I know i'm not old/ old but ive enjoyed a full life, travelled the world, seen most of my fav bands ,seen everton win cups and leagues. I have a dog which I take out for walks have g/kids who occupy a lot of my time, I still go to festivals and to goodison when I can so I'm pretty much set in my ways. its just the not working part i'm adjusting to and now and then I just get a day that I feel down. they are very rare tho.

Once again thx for a such a nice welcom and for your words. As I wrote earlier I follow the forums already a bit of time. I noticed there are very nice, normal and balanced people with great sense of humor. It's a special place in Internet. I'm happy to join and I'll be around :)

Nice one lad for this.

You're not working now ? As in you've retired and you're adjusting to this life ? If so, i think its very normal and a common thing with people. So are you feeling along the lines that ' you've been there and seen it all, done it all .......... now what ' ?

Great news about the cancer btw lad. Nice

I had to give up work due to the cancer. hope to get something again next year when body fully recovered. not really thinking too much just getting by day to day for now.

Tried to avoid this thread like the plague due to my own things going on. But it's an interesting read.
I was a little like you at first. I was thinking of the old saying "Misery loves company". After watching how it developed & how people were treating each other, and the subject matter...well, it's a credit to all the contributors & the Mods.

Everyone likes a little banter, especially in an anonymous forum, but this just goes to show that people, deep down, can show genuine concern and be willing to support their fellow Blues. ;)

Only recently come on here in the last month or so but I think it's fantastic to have a thread like this so that people have somewhere to turn when they need someone to talk to.

I'm only a fairly young man myself who got married last month to the girl I've been with since I was 14 (26 now) and just a few days ago my wife had a miscarriage. I'm utterly heartbroken after preparing for the last nine months to have my little boy and hold him in my arms to have that taken away in a split second just hurts me to even think about it. I'm a pretty happy and positive guy, but I've understandably taken a huge knock from this, dreaming of taking him to his first match and all the little things which I imagine make parenthood the fantastic honour that it is and which has taken up the majority of my thoughts over the last few months, now it's gone and I just don't know if i will ever be mentally ready to go through it all again after this. Thanks for reading anyway and if anyone has any similar experience and had any helpful tip of getting through it a little easier then it'd be much appreciated, thanks.
