Distin - Leaving ? Now at Bournemouth

A sad end to a decent Everton career. (Safe to assume it has ended tbh).

I think the fall out with Roberto was the first clear signal that this has been the most dis-harmonious squad since Moyes' second season. Hopefully it can be fixed.

Seems to be sound again now since Eto'o went and distin has been slapped down

Distin was quality, fast, strong and an good defender, and combined with Jags gave us a hell of a defence, for several years, forming the backbone of a defence on which challenge after challenge (some successful, some not) were mounted for the European positions, regardless of what was ahead of them...This is including the challenge which bought us this years Euro campaign.

To see us turn on him when he's finishing is disappointing imo.

The guy deserves credit, he's getting on, its not his fault, will happen to us all.. You have no idea what's gone on behind the scenes.

Time for him to move on, but with my thanks and appreciation.

I agree

Until something unjust comes out, he deserves our full support, been a terrific signing

does anyone have any actual proof about the "bust-up"? When he lost his place early on, Martinez came out and said at his age he wouldn't put him on the bench, which sounds sensible - do you really want to bring a 37-old on during a game, but he has picked him since, and he has also been on the bench a few times. No evidence of a bust-up there.
Recently he has been playing for the U21s. Sometimes players are banished to train with the kids, but they never play for them. How is playing with a 'bad egg' going to help their development? Could it not be that they see value in Distin's experience to help what is a very young team, and that he is happy to do that, knowing his first team opportunities are limited?
Still a good player, but at the moment, we have 3 players better than him - can't see any more into it than that

Where do you get that info? He was like injured all the time.
Combinationof transfermarket and following physioroom reguarly. Alcaraz had dreadful hamstring problems at the start of last season then a brief thigh injury in iirc Feb and then nothing since other than his dislocated shoulder.

In contrast Jags had his horrendous hamstring injury problems in the second half the season (the reason we played Stones&Distin - Alcaraz was on the bench) and Stones was out a long time after his ankle ligament operation.

Watching that tonight I guess he must have fallen out big time with Martinez to be overlooked in the team for a professional clown.
