DM will sign new contract - BBC

I suspect the delay is primarily caused by "change of ownership" clauses in his contract, ie what happens if the club is sold to a new owner.

If, and it's a big if, a new owner is lurking, they would be keen not to have to pay out on the rest of Moyes' contract should he wish to leave. I suspect Kenwright was not to keen either as a potential £17 million liability will clearly eat into whatever price he hopes to achieve for the club.

Moyes on the other hand, would certainly wish for that option.

Your assuming that contracts mean anything in this day and age, im sure both partys have added clauses that would mean either party would only have to pay 1 maybe 2 years of the contract if the manager was sacked, resigned or infact just left to join another club.

Or infact if somebody, someday does turn up on his white or black charger and save us from despair!!

Not just the Beeb sticking their necks out. I don't know where his interview was but I heard it from the horses mouth on 5 live. He stated he has always said he does not want to leave and that has not changed.

He also said "I appreciate my contract debate could unsettle a few players, but that is off the pitch. Once they cross that line there is no excuse for complacency, it is 11 against 11 and nothing should ever change that"

Not getting at you MG, but why does everyone assume a contract is not worth anything in Football?

In any other business a contract of this size relative to the overall size of the deal (the deal being a change of ownership) would have a material effect on the price paid by the buyer. The contract terms would be critical to price negotiation.

If it is not signed by the end of the international break, then there is definitely something wrong. No doubt in my mind at all about that.

I think Bill's holding it up now. Or maybe not.

If I had to guess I'd say David Moyes was under the impression he would have a contract to sign before the Newcastle game. He rarely sticks his neck on the line unless he's sure of something and he did say with what looked like a degree of honesty, that if they gave it to him to sign he'd sign it.

So do you two agree that Bill is the one that is now (not formally) delaying things? That's what it seems to me. Moyes seems to be altogether more humble about his position than he was a few weeks and months ago.

John I think you are correct,it might be a bit of tit for tat on Bills part but I doubt Moyse would announce his willingness to accept whats on offer and then delay it.(y)

Haha. Things are never done easily at Everton. I was talking to my mum on the phone last night and she suddenly went into a tirade at how useless we always end up being.

Still, she said one sensible thing: better blue than red (y)
