If he had left we would be left with

Delph
Davies
Baningime
Gomes (injured)
Gbamin (injured)

The real horror was not signing another Gbamin type...theres no muscle in the centre.
If he'd left it'd have made room for another signing.

Needed 2 Cb’s to replace jags and zouma that was common, anyone who couldn’t see it has problems. Holgate not good enough, wait for Mina to get a knock and be out for 5-6 games, do people want Holgate alongside Keane? Imagine if it’s bad now it would be worse. A experienced striker was what the club was lacking, Kean may come good but it’s a big ask for a youngster, to replace Lukaku something we didn’t ever do. There are countless amount of Cb’s and strikers around Europe that are better than we currently have, surely they are going to target a Cb at the very least in the winter window.

...don’t disagree, i’ve been calling for that athleticism and power in central midfield for an age. We do need some proper quality to turn defeats into draws and draws into wins, perhaps in Sigurdsson’s position.

I think we should be changing to 433.

That would mean 2 ball players and one poweful player...or 2 powerful players and a ball player. We could rotate game to game depending on the opposition.

I think weve got Gbamin and Gomes and need to find two more similar types two compete.

We tried for Doucoure (and probably more) but the bid was rejected. Schneiderlin was all set to move to Turkey.

Agree on the formation; but it's neither here nor there talking of "tried for this player and that player": he got what we've ended up with.

I think what we lack are two players / monsters in the middle who can outfight teams.

Petit and Vieira were very athletic and could get up and down the pitch and dominate smaller midfielders.

Gbamin looks to be a decent passer, his long passes have been slightly too far ahead of our wide players but thats probably due to him not having trained with them much.

A doucoure who could bring the ball forward and drive the team on would have been ideal. Likewise we needed Sangare to sit alongside or rotate with Gbamin.

Instead weve got 1 of 3 when we needed 2 or 3 of them + that player is now injured.

Gomes can be a good player but hes so inconsistent. When hes good hes very good (like sigurdsson) but when hes not good hes dreadful.

In this rebuilding phase id have played a little safer and gone for power over finesse.

Think it depends on who's next to Gomes if it's Schneiderlin then he'll struggle, so would most, so did Gana after the first year. Think Gomes, Delph and Gbamin would be a decent three.

Nothing to be excited about imo...

We need 2 players in the centre before we can rotate the players and cover for suspensions/injuries.

We have a weaker team than last year so he hasn’t done a great job. Too much of a grey area between Silva and Brands for me. Who chooses players to buy, sell or keep.
There was clearly money to spend and it looks like we waited too long to actually get players in, so again, was that Silva or Brands.
They both have to take some responsibility together, we can’t have a crap season where Silva gets sacked but somehow Brands gets credit.

...we really lack creativity without Gomes,

IMO Gomes isn't really all that much of a creative player.
IMO Gomes might be our most creative player.

Bingo.

Of course we can.

If the new manager struggles with the players than of course we can start pointing fingers at Brands.

But for now theres only 1 person trying the same thing week after week and wondering why hes getting the same results.

Yerry Mina goes away with his country and becomes a rock.

He comes back and literally starts scoring own goals.

I mean.......

Proven abysmal. None are even close to being proven. They run around and consume both air and ridiculous sums of our money.

I just dont think Kean would have come here if he wasnt given a shot at being first choice.

Its not like there are loads of proven Strikers floating around anyway.

Im convinced the squad isnt the issue.

Our manager thought playing a 2-2-6 formation was a good idea, I doubt peak Messi and CR7 could have helped us.

Not going to hound him out for it, but he let us down this summer, 2 senior central defenders is unacceptable. The lack of a left footed right winger as was requested, is disappointing. While i am happy with the players that came in. It was all done too late.
