Again, that doesn't make sense.

There's a lot of anger at how we've managed to blow so many points which could have put us top 3. Silva has to take his share of responsibility, but equally the man selling his players and not securing better ones than last season for him also carries a huge amount of responsibilty here.

It still doesnt change the fact that your poll is an utter farce and is basically meaningless.

I agree. I said earlier it'd be 2/3 managers into Brands time here to hammer just how much he's responsible for what's happening on the pitch.

It's stating the bleeding obvious, but ...

Brands main tasks are fourfold

  • Supply the coach with the players he wants which fit Sasha's budget
  • Whereever possible, recruit players whose value is likely to increase and won't need moving on just because of a change in the coach
  • Limit the number of recruitment cock ups to as near to zero as possible
  • Oversee what's happening outside the first team
The coach is paid to

  • Mould the players into a team, preferably a team which is more than the sum of it's parts
  • Improve the players so that their value increases ( some will leave, and it's important, particularly before we move to BMD, that, when they do, that we make good money on them to reinvest into the squad )

How is it meaningless? The people voting in it have a pov and have made it. Basically that's how polls go. Are all polls meaningless...or just the ones that underline that not everyone worships the false God you do?

There are about 12 managers in the premier league who would prefer to work with the players Silva has to work with than the ones at there own clubs. If, and at this stage it is looking like a big if, Silva lasts the season, then some of those managers with inferior players will finish above us.
Why will that happen? Because they will look at the players they have and come up with a couple of systems that suit them. Our own manager, it seems, will still be too stubborn to admit that the way he is setting the team up is not going to work with the players he has.

Brands has spent £200M on the players he's brought in so far. Bernard on a free and Digne for £25M or whatever are great value. Richarlison? I wouldn't give £50M for that lad. Delph is never going to increase his value at his age and with his injury record. Mina - we'll have to pay someone to take him. Gbamin looks like a mugging...ditto Iwobi and Kean. Gomes we'll recoup on.

He's spent top dollar on bang average players apart from Digne.

Played a game and a bit

Good grief

I just dont think Kean would have come here if he wasnt given a shot at being first choice.

Its not like there are loads of proven Strikers floating around anyway.

Im convinced the squad isnt the issue.

Our manager thought playing a 2-2-6 formation was a good idea, I doubt peak Messi and CR7 could have helped us.
Totally agree. Microscope on Silva from all fronts. The next three games will tell the tale. He won't change and so he has no hope. I really think he is in disbelief whats happening.

Based off a game

There’s no “looks” about it. He hasn’t even had the chance to bed in to a new, faster league

Guess it’s just another stick to wave at brands for the failures on the pitch

Carry on

Do you think there's a need to point to desperately use Gbamin in order to underline Brands' recent performance?

Last summer's signings

Bernard : Would easily get 25 million plus for

Digne : Bought for 20 million, probably worth 30 million plus now

Richarlison : Paid roughly 35 million for ( add ons will increase that, but, apart from appearances, I doubt we've hit any ), worth 50 million plus now. You might not pay that, but plenty would

Mina : Paid about 27 million for. Being injured last season means he hasn't had time to settle yet, so maybe he's only worth 20 million plus now

Net result : At least 50 million up

On Delph. We paid buttons for him. If he plays 25 to 30 games this season, then he'll be worth 20 million plus at the end of the season. If he doesn't, then he'll still be worth pretty much what we paid for him.

We got Gomes on the cheap. He has flaws, but he's worth 30 million plus.

It's too early to tell on Kean and Gbamin. Iwobi is probably going to be worth roughly what we paid for him, but if Silva can work on his weaknesses then his value will increase as well.

Brands has made mistakes this summer, but, financially, he's doing just fine.
