Heskey at Leicester and his first season at Liverpool was unplayable at times...
I meant stylistically. I am not saying he's at Heskey's best level yet (maybe never will be)he's not as strong/built either. But he does have some of the same attributes: link play/pressing, pace and running channels. He also isn't clinical yet which is also similar. He's also young so we don't know what he will be. He's worth his place in the squad to develop. We still need a first team striker.

Some people just don't understand how football is played.

If you play a 4-2-3-1 then your 1 up front needs to be able to hold on to the ball and have sufficient strength, pace, and aerial ability to stretch the game far up the pitch and stop the opposition from just pushing up and squeezing the available space for the 3 behind the striker. Unless your 3 are super creative, ours aren't.

DCL is growing into this role well.

If you look at our stats we aren't actually creating that many quality chances. Our only player in the top 25 of expected assists (the measurement of every chance created whether scored or not) is Digne. There is no point playing a "boss slotter" if he isn't getting chances. DCL helps increase scoring opportunities the 3 behind the striker by keeping hold of the ball in attacking areas.

Of players his age very few have his aerial ability and his awareness is improving all the time. His scoring record is actually fairly decent.
Don't start talking sense on here, there are quite a few who either could not cope with it or just don't know what sense is.DCL is doing just fine

DCL has shown in the last few games how to lead the line, we look a much more balanced team when he plays there...

I do agree however he needs to get involved even more, he has so much potential this lad a few more goals from him could be the making of him...

So much more to come from DCL he just needs to believe in himself more & I am sure it will come...

A better comparison of where he is at is to compare him to Solanke who was Golden Ball winner at the U20 World Cup that DCL scores the winning goal in the final. Sure, one has probably a much bigger weekly wage having moved from Chelsea with a huge reputation, but in terms of footballing progress DCL has left his former international way behind.

I’m prepared to be patient with him, successive managers have seen what he’s done on the pitch but still prepared to play him. Suggests to me his attitude and approach are characteristics that will support his ability. We have seen his weaknesses as he isn’t clinical in his finishing as we’d like but he is developing in the most competitive league in the world. There is plenty to like about him and as a lad learning his trade he’s doing alright. Comparisons to Anichebe are unfair, look at Solanke for a better yardstick of progress. He has played out of position lots of times so looking at goal stats alone isn’t the only barometer - I remember a young Graeme Sharp needing time as well.

I have no problem with DCL but currently he is not good enough for us. He might be in the future but he isn't presently. No place for him in the team or should I say if there is a place for him in the team then we are on the wrong track.

i like big dom, he hold's up the ball well, play him in a good side and he will produce the goods

I agree spud.

I dunno, hes just got that something I have never been able to put my finger on, its like hes always missing something, no I dont mean goals! Its like hes ALMOST a good player, but can never really put it all together.

If he can start adding a few more goals he could turn into a very good player, but goalscoring is an art, you either have it or you dont and currently its probably his weakest area. Still a very young boy and every manager we have had has had faith in him, so fingers crossed.

Would like to see him given a little run in the side, get the feeling that if he could get a few goals it would really help him kick on.
