Took a deflection off Ake, that's why.
Better to be lucky than good, which rather suits DCL rather nicely

I swear I have never seen him kick the ball directly into the goal, another deflection
DCL isn’t the only one in the forum to get that treatment. Unfortunately it is far too common a behavior.
To be fair that first 30 mins was the worst opening half hour I’ve seen Everton play in the entire season so farHis first half performance nearly tipped me over the edge today.
There’s some Everton strikers that i something’s think have never ever scored for us so I’d rather have one who gets scrappy goals at least.
It's about getting shots on target for strikers, after that as long as it's in the net,who cares.I swear I have never seen him kick the ball directly into the goal, another deflection
For someone who several on here accuse of not being a natural finisher, that was a lovely finish.
and?I swear I have never seen him kick the ball directly into the goal, another deflection
I think some posters almost resent it when he scores. Why wouldn't you want a young Everton player to play well or improve? His haters can shut up for another week, vault me he is better than 1 goal a season solanke.

The chances are he will not make it at Everton as our first choice striker. He certainly has a lot of improvement to make if he is to do so. But at the moment he is perfectly adequate as 3rd choice behind a new first choice striker and Richarlison. DCL isn't our problem. Tosun is. He just isn't good enough as first choice which is why DCL has been starting so many.
For me, the problem we have with DCL is that he can't stay in the back up role indefinitely, as we'll need that position in the squad to nurture the next young striker we buy in or comes through the academy. By the end of next season he'll be 23 and a decision will need to be made to keep or sell. I definitely see a career for him in the premier though, maybe just not with us. All this league 1 stuff is just nonsense.
So you would rather have a 28 year old, costing anything between £60/80k pw depending on who you believe, with absolutely zero potential for development, than a young England U21 regular on probably half the wages, playing at possibly 50% of his potential. We already have one of those his name is prince niasse
Possibly.Intransigence.
