Well DCL is learning from the best in Big Dunc, im sure he will kick on loads with a coach like him.

@davek

If FM taught me anything its that players improve composure over time.

I've liked this guy and his attitude from the off, like you say he's slowly improving all the time, he's coming through the ranks in the England set up and he's winning trophies and plaudits as he goes.

Lets not forget he single handed carried the forward line through the thankfully short BFS campaign and was probabl;y curbing his instincts to play to instructions.

Some on here seem to forget it's not all about being a prolific scorer it's also about holding the ball up, bringing others into play, distracting opponents, making dummy runs, DCL is working his socks off doing these each game he plays whilst also chipping in with goals and assists, but hey, haters always gonna hate.

would help if he could do any of that aswell

I just dont think people realise what some of the best Strikers in the world looked like at 21.

Sure there are some players like Rooney, Ronaldo9, Owen and Fowler(spit) who just score from Day 1, but then theres loads of others who didnt really kick on till later. Kane and Shearer had modest goal scoring figures AROUND DCLs age.

Im not saying hes ever gonna be in that company, but every manager we have had has rated him VERY highly and people who say he isnt improving will still be saying that in 5 years. I mean its possible he wont ever improve, its possible that how he is now is how he will always be, in that case hes simply not good enough, based on the here and now, but I find it hard to believe he wont improve, I personally have seen improvement anyway.

The "he's not improving" shouts are weird to me. I think he's still far away from being a consistent goal scorer but he does look more composed in front of goal this season and at times he holds up play very well. The game is slowing down for him so to speak.

This is actually one of the areas I think he struggles with a bit. He works his ass off- there is no denying that. He tends to struggle against pressure which is something he needs to work on. I think it’s a lack of balance rather than a lack of strength.

Be impressive if he actually had any competition for it
England U21s are unbeaten in 23 and are favourites for this years Euros. There was plenty of competition.

Personally, having watched probably 90% of the matches last year, I'd have given it to Lewis Cook, but I'm pleased for Dom that the fans voted for him. In fact, I can't understand why any Evertonian wouldn't be pleased for him.

He could be our Ole Solskjaer as in he will always be better suited to being a sub. Nobody would knock Solskjaer achievements as a player but he was never quite as effective starting games. I always thought Deulofeu was this type of player as well. The game is about the 14 and in many games the substitutes are what make the difference. Now if we can find another 20-30 goal a season striker and let DCL do what he's good at maybe everyone will settle down and appreciate him for what he is.

Solskjaer was literally the opposite of DRKSSDL , he was a natural goal scorer and top finisher. Also the reason he didn’t get as many minutes as others is because he had top strikers in front of him not a LW, a sinagslese fraud and Tuson
