Dom’s job that game was to stick on VVD at all times and not let him start play from the back. In that respect he did very well. However offensively out would have to say he huffed and puffed but was 2nd best.
VVD was very good defensively in that game. His positioning was superb for what seemed like every cross. Losing tomorrow will start their crisis and we will pass them on the way up.

For someone his age he has seriously good attributes, He's quick strong tall can play the lone role which is a HUGE thing in the modern game, He absolutely destroyed Arsenal's back line on his own and imo gave Virgil van Dijk a run for his money in one of the matches.
His finishing is poor but he has time on his side to improve that but we 100% have to sign another striker regardless, Putting all our eggs in the DCL basket is clearly not enough.

Being tall , strong and fast are his attributes , he was born with them he didn’t have to do anything for them . All the things you have to learn , and I’m not talking about running and jumping high, all other skills he is poor at and his finishing is not just poor it’s shocking. He literally looks like a CB when he’s shooting.

We played miles better last season when he started than when he didn’t. Simple.

We need a proven striker as well.

We played better because it allowed richy on the right which was good and was amplified because Walcott finally got dropped this also allowed Bernard I to the team and he in turn brought the best out of Digne and the absence of Walcott saw an upturn in form of Coleman. It’s not hard to find a striker that is fast and runs but doesn’t score , the straq could do that

How on gods green earth do you know what he was instructed to do? He was dominated , it’s like saying Lukaku was told to stop Keane from scoring when playing against us so I’m that aspect he done really well. Strikers are there to get goals or to create them , it’s leterally the main person any team looks to score

Bernard was always in the team if you were watching us play even without Dom.

Unless you’re France winning the World Cup and your main striker isn’t necessarily there to be the main scorer of goals.

Alright that's fair, I would say his decision making and shooting/finishing are his worst attributes and those things can definitely be worked on, He's only 22 so we have time yet.

What was that saying from somewhere, Time oh Time.... I forget the rest (being an old geezer). Or "Time waiteth for no man", in this case DCL. A consensus is forming to give him another year to learn how to shoot. Unless we have a proven striker as well that could be a high price to pay given our hopes and ambitions for progress.
