I hope he can reach that as I do any Everton striker, however I just don’t think DCL has the tools to be that man. His all round game has improved, but a strikers main job is to finish. I don’t think he has a natural instinct that a striker is born with.
I don’t buy that. Scoring goals is a skill that players learn. Physical attributes help but a lot of it is down to what goes on in the head. The ‘instinct’ is about positioning, knowing where to make runs and confidence, which can all improve quite quickly.

Ive seen no improvement in this area of his game. But he has improved in his work rate, hold up play, bringing others into play. But I stand by what I said, the lad just doesn’t look a natural finisher. When a chance falls for him, I hope he scores as opposed to expecting him to score. Therein lies the difference to a natural finisher.

I washed my hands of him in that away game against Palace last season when Richarlison put it on a plate for him with a cross from the right; he flinched when he saw the Palace GK coming out for the cross and avoided the contact.

That underlined for me how unsuited to leading the attack he is. A defining moment.

It's not about owning players (the club's do that already through science - these players are like lab rats but they accept it because they're remunerated). It's about expecting some level of acknowledgement that the club are nowhere near where we should be and that players like him (not just him) are not producing and having some humility about it.

Frankly, I find it insulting that players are posting garbage about themselves and their gear. Do the business? They can say and do and wear WTF they want. No complaints.
They are owned? (not by me, by the clubs, they choose it) You are insulted? you are insulted by their outlet? Sorry I'm confused, who owns them? Should they be owned? Is your contribution worth that level of right you feel to criticise their behaviour outside of the job they are paid to do? They no doubt have a code of conduct in their contracts and I'm pretty sure it doesn't specify whether or not you are 'insulted' by their love of fashion or whatever other meaningless thing they do that offends you. I'm sure you love the club, but rein yourself a bit lad, you seem way too upset about nothing

Mine was the Fulham game, we got beat
He had a chance on a plate when it was goalless but he hesitated, looked almost too scared to get to the ball.
Reminded me of a young 2 year old race horse running green, not sure what to do.
He’s been running green for too long.

Tried to explain to people while Lukaku was here that running around a lot and doing certain things right doesn't make a decent striker. It doesn't even make a PL striker. You can do all of those things and be utterly terrible. See DCL.

Goals are 90% of a striker's value to a team. Remember when we had a 25-goal-a-season striker and were made up he left? We're still in pain from that loss now. Even with massive upgrades made in the supporting forward positions and a striker with better hold-up play.

Arsenal away last season for me, how he missed so obvious goals was stuff of nightmares. A proper striker and we'd won that game like for so many other games he started.
