I don’t think anyone has ever doubted that he has the attributes to be a good striker, he’s tall, pretty quick and strong but he just wasn’t using them attributes well, plus his finishing was poor unless against a lower league team in the Cup.

He still needs to work on his link up play, his lack of assists this season proves that but he’s finally hit a purple patch of scoring so that masks it.

Overall he’s had more anonymous games than good games this season, but if he can continue this form then that will definitely change. Big couple of games for us coming up, let’s see how he does in them.

Carlo thinks DCL can be one of the best in Europe, I have said in the past that he'd be an Average championship striker.. Carlo has 3 champions leagues multiple national leagues and a bunch of cups as both manager and player.. I was an unused Sub for the runners up in the CDFL (b) cup final in 2003.

I'm backing you!

The most telling thing for me is that all the pundits I listen to like him. They (like many of us on here) have doubted his ability to be a regular goal scorer, but they have never doubted his all-round play. Given that his all-round play is improving (and it is fair to assume will improve further under Ancelotti’s coaching) and that the goals are coming too, I don’t think anybody can doubt he is now beginning to fulfil his potential. I don’t know if he will ever be a 20+ goal a season striker, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt And hope and pray we finally have a proper striker on the books to replace Lukaku’s goals!

He’s come on since we’ve moved the ball quicker into the box,
we were too slow and predictable with flank to flank passing, I think any striker would of struggled with Silva.
His confidence is back and now he’s prepared to gamble and find space in the box
But it’s early days in this up turn of form

That's a proper striker's performance. He was actually there to finish the chances and tucked them away well.

10/10 for yesterday. I do not care what he did besides those goals. Almost utterly irrelevant. We haven't been winning those games in the past because he hasn't been in the right positions, no matter how many flick-ons he's been winning, but he was there to score when needed yesterday and deserves huge credit.

There's no doubt that his penalty area game is gradually improving. He's got to improve his finishing and movement still, if he's going to last here, but he does seem to be on his way. Well in, Dom.

More for the hall of shame:
It’s ok putting our posts in the hall of shame, yes atm DCL is having a very good run and it is about time he came good the amount of opportunities he’s had. But let’s see if it can continue, Scoring 2 scrappy goals with a hyped up Dunc in charge against chelsea, then in games he’s trying his be to show Carlos what he can do, a goal against Burnley and a double v Newcastle (tried his best to miss the second one there) But he was in the right place to score.
But if he performs and scores against city away and Liverpool away in the cup, I’ll gradually start to believe hes the real deal, it’s good to start scoring against the lesser teams, but if he wants to be the main striker here he has to performs against the very top team, or we will never be as successful as we want to be. But I will admit, lately he has improved (mainly due to playing two up top) so being an Everton fan that is great news if he can press on from now, I just hope it isn’t the initial Carlos effect.

He's doing exactly what Danny Ings & Callum Wilson are doing - scoring in a purple patch with a previous patchy record.

Lets see how he does over these next few months before labelling him the answer to our prayers.

Happy for him and hope he keeps it up but i still think we still need a proven CF alongside him / Kean / Richarlison if we are to take that next step and get into Europe / try break the top 4.
Totally agree, the next 2 games will show us if he can do it against the real top teams.

He’s not proving me wrong as I never doubted his ability.
Thing is for years and years we have been playing one up top, it’s rarely worked (lukaku did ok playing up there on his own). All our managers have failed to see that’s what was needed until Dunc came in, Ancelotti has took that on and we are getting results with DCL scoring more and I don't think it will be long until Kean is doing the same.

If he can score those scrappy goals that rely on quickness and instinct against the flow of play when the team's against it, then he'll really be a player. Squanders too many usually.

Hope he continues the form.
