Totally agree, the next 2 games will show us if he can do it against the real top teams.
He's got a half decent record vs City hasn't he? Seem to remember him scoring in a couple of games against them.

In an ideal world, Ancelotti would be able to rest him for one of those games. He's played a lot of football over the last couple of weeks and it'll likely catch up with him sooner or later.

Unfortunately, when the alternatives are Tosun and Niasse, he'll probably have to start both games.

It’s ok putting our posts in the hall of shame, yes atm DCL is having a very good run and it is about time he came good the amount of opportunities he’s had. But let’s see if it can continue, Scoring 2 scrappy goals with a hyped up Dunc in charge against chelsea, then in games he’s trying his be to show Carlos what he can do, a goal against Burnley and a double v Newcastle (tried his best to miss the second one there) But he was in the right place to score.
But if he performs and scores against city away and Liverpool away in the cup, I’ll gradually start to believe hes the real deal, it’s good to start scoring against the lesser teams, but if he wants to be the main striker here he has to performs against the very top team, or we will never be as successful as we want to be. But I will admit, lately he has improved (mainly due to playing two up top) so being an Everton fan that is great news if he can press on from now, I just hope it isn’t the initial Carlos effect.

Why can’t you just say he’s playing well? So many back-handed compliments here.

Yeh Kean looks prolific.
Give him a chance, any fool can see there’s a decent player in there. He’s come to a new country only 19, in most of the games he’s played in he was managed by one of the worst premier league managers ever. It will take him time to properly settle I’m sure he will come good and I fully expect him if given the chance to be a better striker than DCL.

Because I don't get carried away by a player having a purple patch, I’ve been an Everton fan to long to do that. Tbh I want to see how many goals he has at the end of the season. If we want to be top 6 or higher he needs to be scoring regular, he has been but that run of games isn’t enough for me to fully judge he’s goal scoring yet, the next 2 games are very important to see if he has kicked on then i might start thinking he could be our answer to a striker going forward, but I’m not fully convinced yet.

No worst possible thing to do, he needs to play as much as possible, resting him from them game would just be hiding him from the big games. That’s where a striker really makes his name in big games. Ok scoring against Burnley and Newcastle, but goals away against city and Liverpool is another level.

I beg to differ, I think if now one comes in and him and DCL did become a partnership, I would expect to see Kean score much more than DCL. Kean is more of a natural goal scorer, just think DCL has played in more than a 100 games here, to start seeing a bit of promise, Kean has hardly played and is 3 years younger.

If it took you 100 games to see a bit of promise in DCL football isn't really for you

That's a brave prediction! I hope it comes true because DCL is on another level entirely. I think DCL is better than Abraham at Chelsea who seems to get rave reviews.

He has shown some signs in the past, but at times he’s been dire up front, but then we as a team have been dire. At least over all them games I knew 2 up top would help the team and strikers massively. But Koeman, Sam and Silva and Martinez couldn’t see that, so does that mean I know more than them? Dunc knew it straight away. Only reason DCL is showing more is because he has help up there, he hasn't improved massively the team has since Dunc has come in and Carlos looks like he’s took that to another lever (but it is still early days). I think if they were up to Match fitness Niasse and Tosun would be slotting them in much more with this system If they played. So really it’s the managers that have improved more than the players.

“Fantastic with the head and clever in the box, sharp, but he is young. For this reason he has to improve. He is a humble guy. He doesn’t talk a lot. I think he is going to be in the top in England and in Europe. He has all the quality to be a top striker”
Don Carlo ... after his DCL hug

I agree, I don’t really rate Abraham, I do think if playing up top as a 2 DCL has more about his game, lone striker DCL is awful. But let’s hope we don’t go back to that.

I thought when he switched to the number 9 shirt it was a brave move as that was bringing extra pressure. However he seems to have responded and perhaps deserves the number now. He has scored 8 in 18 league games so if he stays fit and plays in all the remaining league games and keeps that scoring record up he will end with 16 goals. Apart from Lukaku that would be the best return we've had from any player in the PL era. He also brings others into the game. I'm now downgrading the need for a new striker until the summer when we can decide whether DCL will be first choice or just back up. One thing is for certain if they are both fit Tosun should never be selected ahead of him again.

Forgetting about the yak mate...

Lets get this right - DCL is decent when its put on a plate, even then his finishing is much to be desired. I want to see if this lad can graft when the chips are truly down an produce the striking guile that is required to be up top in a prem side. Dont get me wrong it can bounce in off his arse all season for all i care but i am not getting carried away with him being the answer in the long term.
