That's a brave prediction! I hope it comes true because DCL is on another level entirely. I think DCL is better than Abraham at Chelsea who seems to get rave reviews.

And I thought it was just me who hold this view.

There's a tremendous upside to DCL's game. Previous managers just played him like a Lukaku mark II where he done well to battle against central defenders on his own. I think we'll see the best of DCL when his direction of play becomes more focus on scoring goals rather than battling with defenders. For example, we don't dink enough balls over the top to exploit his pace. We don't provide enough crosses to exploit his aerial power. There isn't enough intricate play, ie quick one twos, inside the box.

Why can’t you just say he’s playing well? So many back-handed compliments here.

They can't because they are nothing more than backward armchair pundits looking to get their kicks by slagging off our young players. They really need to get off their soap box and recognise they haven't got a clue about football or how to develop young players.

The real pundits, Alan Shearer, Gary Lineker, etc, all rave about this kid. Yet we allow these unremarkable forum members to post their negative views and then waste our precious time to counteract them.

Behave.. he’s done well the last two games I’ll give him that. But he still nearly missed the ball from 2 yards out. Long way to go before he going to be getting 20 a season which is what we need to break top 6.

We’re at the halfway point of the season and he has 10 in all competitions.
That’s 10 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions and 8 in 18 for the PL.

A good chance he could get close you know.

Exactly. It’s weird, because I’m not sure he’s doing that much Different to what he was doing 12 months ago but he’s now scoring more goals. I’m not complaining, it’s just a confirmation that football is a funny old game.

He’s started to get into much better positions.
I think playing with a second striker has helped him no end and has allowed him to take more chances in his attacking play.

Lads a baller!

Has everything in his locker apart from an ability to strike a ball with venom and accuracy.

That's something that may come and even if it doesn't it didn't impact the likes of lineker or Michael Owen too much. He is a couple of attributes away from being a Firminho.

Unbelievable the amount of stick I've seen this lad get.... instead of giving it to a kid who is busting a gut trying to improve who cost £2m.... save it for the mirallases and schneiderleins who cost far more and earn far more.

You tell them mate

Was always going to come good for this lad eventually, given the right coaching and team set-up.

Fast as eff.
Strong as eff.
Wins everything in the air.
Pressing machine and general hard-working warrior.
Strong link-up and hold-up play.
Clearly excellent at following tactics & coaching.

That's a REALLY impressive skillset for a 22 year old Prem striker even if not banging in loads of goals, which is why some people have been saying he's a great player to have even before he went on this streak.

Movement and being in the right place at the right time, and being able to make that half yard of space in the box for yourself to get decent shots off, are *much* more important than finishing skill, and he has everything to be very very good at those things. IF that ends up turning him into a high-end goalscorer too then there's very very few gettable strikers that would make sense to replace him with. If not then he's still an extremely useful asset to the team.

Everton fans are always banging on about how we'll love any player if they'll run through a brick wall for the team. We have one. Stick behind him when he inevitably goes through a dry patch.

Does that mean we can subtract all of lewin a goals in the cups over the years ?

Depends on yourself. I prefer to use league games only as the quality of the opposition is more comparable you get a hat trick against a lower league club or a team of part timers it can skew the stats. My original post was 8 in 18 which was league goals only 10 in 22 is actually a better strike rate so I'm trying to give it the most balance.

Lads 90% of the posters on here have a bad word to say about dcl in here and rightly so. Ye deserve a good vaulting if we just buy a player and your in his thread writing him off. But he’s had countless infuriating performances.
