No idea mate, I suppose you’d have to find a fat lad with less ability than Dom and ask him. Unfortunately I’m a finely tuned athlete who also has the ability to control a football and shoot at goal from more than 4 yards away from the target.

Maybe it's not a fat thing then. Maybe it's something else

DCL is progressing & developing into a top premiership striker.....

Noticed he is getting into more dangerous positions & having more shots on goal...

He is learning all the time & is going to be a fantastic asset at Everton....

Unlucky on Saturday against Brighton not to add to his tally....

98 games 52 shots on target.

DCL has no significantly higher miss ratio than other comparable strikers. You can of course mean what you want, but without substantiating it with evidence, it is worthless.

That doesn't mean that DCL is a world-class striker. Firmino for example. has a significantly higher miss ratio, and has scored fewer goals. Still, I rank Firmino per. today in front of DCL.

DCL also has a higher goal rate per 90 min than Richarlison, when we compare them when both have played strikers. It should be noted here that the sample size is relatively small. We must therefore wait until we conclude. But for now, there is no reason to assume that DCL is a worse goalscorer than Richarlison.

Since Silva got fired, DCL has a goal ratio of 0.71. He has also played every match for 90 mins during this period. Before that he played a little, then referred to the bench, and got a few minutes here and there.

If he maintains this ratio, he ends up with 19-20 goals. It will not happen, and the ratio will stabilize at a lower level. However, I am quite optimistic that he will end up with 12-13 goals during the season.

If he continues his progression there is no reason why he will not end up with 15-20 goals next season.

However, there are certain aspects of his game that DCL needs to improve. He needs to move better so he creates more chances for himself, and he has to develop his shooting technique.

Eg. Mason Greenwood scores on chances that are not really chances because he has a good shooting technique, but at the same time he is a completely different player type with other qualities. But the point is that in order to become a world class striker you also have to have that ability, that is, score on chances that are not really chances.

He needs to be trained to take more efforts on goal and basically carve out that striker's instinct.

Right now, could you ever imagine him curling one into the top corner from the edge of the box (or even going for it)? Or dinking the ball over an outrushing goalkeeper when through on goal? Or being one-on-one with the keeper and having the confidence to go round him and slot home?

His goals are all very simple (the diving header aside), but I am sure he'd get many more if he was confident enough to take responsibility and get efforts on goal. Hopefully that'll come with time.

I am happy with him, but we really do need a proven striker to come into the squad, then DCL, Kean and Richarlison will all be pushed up a level with the competition for places.

Agree with your post entirely.

That chance he had against Brighton at the weekend when Bernard slipped it in to him, yes it was on his left foot, but he should have gone for the dink over the keeper as he was rushing out. Instead he just hit it straight at him and ended up conceding a goal kick.

That being said, his goal away at Brighton in the league and his first against Sheff Wed in the cup were both fine finishes, hopefully he can start to produce on a more regular basis

lol have you seen this chance back? Not even Messi could have chipped a keeper from that close.

Thanks mate. I think he needs to be taking a lot more chances and having the confidence to test the goalkeeper. We really struggle to constantly test opposition goalkeepers. If DCL hasn't got the confidence by now - being first choice striker for nearly 3 years at his age - he never will. Hopefully Ancelotti drills that home to him.
