Interesting. So you're saying it's a complete myth that people have been happy to treat as fact.

Hmmm kind of but not quite. It's an over exaggeration which people are very fond of. The point about him playing out wide early in his career is perfectly valid without them having to say he played as a wing back when he actually didn't.

For years, they were as bad as each other.

With DCL, the improvement was absolutely not worth the wait.

I disagree. I think DCL has some good parts to his game. I don't really see it in Davies, don't hate him or anything I just don't think he is particularly good.

Think it was the Stoke game first game of the season under Koeman that he played there.

Yes its an exageration, but not untrue.

As you say, the point about him playing wide is the more valid one. Not sure he ever put a run of games together as a CF for us until last season

For me, we didn't see them until 12 months ago though. The bullying of centre halves (in our run of winning home games against last season's top 6) came before the goals "purple patch" did this season. Before that, for years, there wasn't a whole lot to get behind.

Out of his 133 games for us he only ever played 21 times on the wing, the whole playing on the wing thing is grossly overstated

A 15-goal striker was not worth the wait on a £2m investment? Do you sniff glue?

Absolutely not. Nothing was worth the games we've had to watch him up front for us before Silva was sacked. Certainly not one 10-game scoring streak. This isn't his fault, but it was symptomatic of horrific transfer business from the club. I'd assumed the fact I wasn't referring to transfer fees would be obvious, but I was perhaps being overly optimistic.

We paid nothing for Davies and that wasn't worth it either.

Actually think it was James McCarthy that played rwb against stoke and koeman changed it up at halftime, about the only time that fat buffoon did anything decent here.

Ah I see we're ignoring the second half of last season when he was a beast and we won 6 out of 11 games.

Hmm fair enough.

He hasn't played on the wing for a long time now thats for sure.

Judging him on his performances as a youngster just being blood into the team is still not fair IMO

I've just referred to it above so no, but I'm definitely not going to point to a period where our striker scored almost no goals and try to make out he was excellent.

He was great during the 10-game spell. I'm never going to argue with 10 goals in 10, or whatever it was and I said it at the time. I don't care how many defenders he pushes into the stands or how many flick-ons he wins if he's not scoring though.
