If you watch MOTD last night he ran from an area which was most the of the pitch length overtaking everyone pace to burn disappointed he never scored that goal, but he scored our winner he can't please some posters on this thread 15 prem goals already .......

Utter rubbish why would he join Leicester- they will win nothing.....
Did actually slap my head after that miss.

On the flip side has been coming deep again in recent matches which is reflection on team performance, until last night.

So it no surprise he does score the more chance he gets, and is near some of the best in goal tally.

Works hard for the team & scored 12 goals in the premiership & 15 in all comps so he is doing a good job...

Can improve still & needs to work on finishing, shooting & 121's with the keeper...

We have a top striker here with DCL so let's get behind him & support him all the way...

I hope it didnt come across a big huff mate, just different views!

I'm not sure I said he was better than Aguero, but as of today, yes he is better than the 32 year old Aguero who is almost at the end of his career and ravaged with injuries. Is he better than a prime Aguero? Definitely not. Can he be? In my view, probably not. I'm all for the idea footballers can get better, but at 23/24 hes not going to become a whole different player.

That being said, Ageuro who is exceptional cant do some of the things Dom can. Hes can head balls in from 8 ft in the air the same way Dom can. I think there can be an over focus on what people can do, and more of a focus on what they are able to do.

As for the final point, it's a fair enough assertion. I'll be honest that I'm nervous of the idea. I had a similar belief the last time we had a similar goalscorer in Lukaku and it didnt work out that way at all. I'd also say, in general his all round play is very good, far more so than Lukaku.

To me the case against DCL is more that he is reaching peak value and that as a club, this might be a good moment to cash the chips. You look at Richarlinson last year, we didnt, and he has lost a lot of value since the .

You see that theres not much more improving he can do and that while hes performing to a world class level, hes not necessarily a world class player (if that makes sense)?

I can see some sense in that. You hedge that Moise Kean can come good and Richarlinson will kick on. Everyone will have a different view on it I'm sure, but 100m in a market where King goes for 2-3 and Ings has 12 months left on a deal is tempting.
Well it came across like you were deliberately misrepresenting the point to make it sound ridiculous, when all that was being said was he needs to add more to his game to be a genuine top class striker. I don't think it's a controversial view at all, he's really good at the moment, but there are levels and currently his is below the very best. For a team in our current position that's fine, if we have ambitions of competing at the top then it's probably not. Sticking with Aguero, he's probably the perfect example of what I was getting at in terms of the comparison between him and Jesus. Jesus is a tap in merchant who's good for 20+ goals a season, but Aguero is the player with the fear factor, the one you're terrified to give half an inch to because he'll punish you. There's no comparison between them as players for that reason. It's not about saying DCL is rubbish because he can't do what Aguero can do, it's about saying he needs to add more strings to his bow to get into that top bracket. I think he can, and I think it's clear that it's something they're working on, because in the past he wouldn't even be taking on chances like that one last night.

I didn't mean someone who scores less in the sense that you're talking about Lukaku. Swapping someone scoring 25 goals for someone scoring 10 is not good. I'm talking about the possibility that someone scoring 20 goals but from all different situations may be better than someone who scores 25 from inside the 6 yard box. Also I would really disagree that DCL's all round game is far better than Lukaku's. He works harder, he's better in the air and his back to goal play is better (certainly than when Lukaku was here, although it's come on a lot since then) but there are other areas where Lukaku was streets ahead. It became fashionable to make out like he was a useless lump who just scored a few but in his last 2 seasons he got 43 goals and 13 assists in the league. Since the start of last season DCL has 23 goals and 2 assists. As I said, if he doesn't add different goals then he needs to add more assists. Laying the ball off on the halfway line is great, but there's a bit more to having a good all round game than that.

I think his miss last night at the end was similar to one Sterling missed for City, DCL ran a lot further also.
So there’s a comparison, however if I was a betting man and both were clean thro’ Dom still needs to improve that part of his game so my money would of gone elsewhere...

Sterling's finishing is generally atrocious..........he only scores a fair number of goals because of the number of chances that are created for him by the City team

He should’ve scored a couple more and had an assist, but he played really well last night and his all round play was great.

We need him to keep scoring!

Imagine being 0-0 in an important game, 5 mins to go, ball over the top and Dom is onto it facing just the keeper 1-1, would you back him to slot ?

not sure I would to be honest. This is why I think a lot of our fan base massively overate him.

He's very effective in the box / aerially but long term if we want to be a team that isn't one dimensional (balls/cross into the box) it would help having someone who can offer that threat in terms of taking a defender on / confident enough to slot 1 on 1 etc.

I like King as a squad signing but dont think he's good enough to realistically start games and offer a consistent goal threat so selling Kean and reinvesting the money in a good quality CF to either rotate with or play alongside DCL would be fantastic.
