Lukaku did get some stick, god knows why because he's the best forward we've had in a long long time ( I loved Lukaku myself )

DCL gets stick from certain fans ( myself included ) because apart from the odd tap in over the last few months his overall game has been quite poor, if you don't agree that's fine but I think he needs to improve massively on the ball.

I was under the impression rom got stuck because him and his old man were always talking about him leaving . As a player he’s the best striker we have had since liniker

He definitely does need to improve on his one v ones... but the one he put wide yesterday wasn't as bad a finish as some are making out. People act like those chances are just a question of quality but there's a player (De Gea) actively trying to prevent that shot going in and DCL beats him. It goes like an inch or two wide and it's being described as a *terrible* finish. Obviously one you'd expect him to put away (or not, because it's not one if his strengths right now) but a but hyperbolic to say it was a terrible finish or even a sitter as some have said.

missing the target is a poor finish , same as a “ poor” penalty . You have to hit a shot with some sort of quality . If the keeper pulls off a save then that’s the way it goes sometimes but constantly hitting the ball off target or at the keeper indicates poor finishing ability

I played a game at Huyton on a crap parks type pitch, one of the lads scored and did a Klinsman dive and got a dog turn smear down the front of his top. Classy.

Exactly where he needs to be. Richarlison/James are the ones from range, cutting in - DCL needs to be the poacher getting into the six yard box areas, and that show's he's doing it.

Critically though, during build up play, he's showing for the ball, holding it up, winning flick ons, running channels and drawing fouls. All the things Lukaku couldn't do.

He's the complete modern number nine right now. He'd get in pretty much any team in the league. Proper top drawer.
