I don’t want to dig him out here because I’m perfectly happy with him in general, but I’m not sure the shots on target thing is quite the positive you paint it as. The 2 chances he had on Monday were shots on target, but they were really poor finishes truth be told. I think DCL tends to look to hit the target, whereas some strikers will look to hit the corner. If you’re aiming for the corner you’re more likely to miss the target, but also more likely to score. Anecdotally, I would say he’s also less likely to take on ‘difficult’ shots than many strikers, which may also make a difference. Again, that’s not said to criticise him, just that I don’t think that stat really does anything to refute what people are saying.

I'm a massive fan, but he's not a natural finisher at all. He's a good finisher with his head, but with his feet he isn't at all. I remember Francis Jeffers here, and he was just a very natural finisher. Moise Kean is a bit like that as well. I said last year away at Watford, as soon as he miss hit the ball, he bounces up and runs towards the goal in one motion, as he instintively anticipates the rebound for a goal (which didn't come). He didn't stop to think, he just acted.

Calvert Lewin will get a lot of chances, as he's very hard to handle, and will score some, as if you hit the ball hard at the target, or shoot early you have a good chance. And thats enough for me. But he's not a great natural finisher at all.

I feel so irritated by our players by now that I don't think we'll even miss him tonight. What is it? 3 goals in 15? Nah, not good enough to worry about.

Still, laughable how the lack of depth that has been spoken about since pre-season has come back to haunt us now. We are just not set up to truly challenge the best clubs.

We missed his ability to win headers hold the ball up and press from the front that was evident
