Something along the lines of that he's convinced the kids he's good now he's got to convince the dad's. For some reason loads took offence and fumed, I thought it was a tongue in cheek comment and being a 'dad' myself I thought it was actually quite funny.

Just listened the interview, don't get the fume over the comment like was only joking tbf. More worryingly though he seems highly deluded, talking about how he feels he's good enough to play in the champions League and we've got the players to do so. Were on course to finish mid table again!

I laughed too, It was tongue in cheek by the lad. With fans themselves, there is occasions it’s used as a deliberate derogatory term for fellow blues deemed too negative/who moan a lot.

I can see why some might of got irked or took it wrong as some fans can be proper condescending butes at times in disagreement and when they heard DCL say they may of thought “oh right he’s like that”.

People keep saying that but it’s just not true, a couple of games ago ( can’t recall opposition at moment ) we created plenty and ended up drawing as he missed a hatful, I get that he also scored recently but his chance conversion rate since Xmas has been shocking
Could be the Palace game. Going strictly off stats Everton had an xG of 2.7 and scored only 1. Dom had an individual xG of 0.8, Richarlison was the more egregious at 1.1. Neither of them scored. A good finisher gets you atleast a goal off those figures and If your name is Messi you score a hat trick off it and just shrug it off.

Overall throughout the season though, DCL is overperforming his xG at a sustainable level so good finishing traits there. It's Richarlison though who has dropped. He has 5 goals on 9.8 npxG. That is uhm not good. 5 goals less than what an "average finisher" would have, nowhere near good enough.

Why has he still not worked out you have to put the ball either side of the keeper to score mate? Is that down to his Xg?

Lol that's on him.

The point I wanted to make to an extent is there is an incredible dearth in quality of top strikers at the moment. Pretty much all the top clubs want a striker (City, Barcelona, Madrid, Chelsea to name a few). So an already depressed market for strikers is gonna get even more depressed. Even though DCL might not be a treasure trove full of gold, he's pretty much gold dust in that there are no reasonable upgrades over him at this point in time.

If he can just start finishing off his one on one's and get more variable with his shot selection instead of hitting it straight at the GK, he can be a great striker (if my aunt had balls, would be uncle). Hoping that Carlo and Big Dunc are working with him on it and ironing that part out.

Richy on the other hand, you can't underperform like that in a team where quality chances are already at a premium due to a terrible MF. It's like dumping all the water you have once you get to a desert, you will get killed.

Sorry mate, all this XG bollox dong wash with me, a good striker has the confidence and composure to stick the ball in the net most of the time when faced with a simple chance, neither of our strikers have been doing that.

He needs to have higher standards on his bad days. His all round play was poor and he missed an absolute sitter. That's not the performance of top striker. It's the performance of a decent striker who still has lots of areas for improvement.
But he's not a top striker like someone Kane or Lukaku is and never will be.
Thats not a dig at Dom, he's done excelent this season with his goals from open play.
But the amount we rely on him to put every single chance away when it comes is unfair.
He needs more around him, in terms of attacking numbers so when he has a day like yesterday then someone else will tale the burden off his shoulders.
Richarlison is in the same boat too i think. A good player, but not good enough for what we expect of him.

If that makes sence

I think I get you. I like Dom a lot, and I only criticise him because I firmly believe he can be a whole lot better than he showed. He shouldn't be happy with that sort of performance and to be fair to him, I reckon he will be hurting. He's one of the few who I like and I trust him to keep putting in the effort to get better.

Misses too many chances. Scores that sitter and we go on and win that. Same with Palace. Can’t afford to do that if you want to go any higher than 8th in the table.

Like a few players in this squad, they believe they’re much better than what they actually are

It’s a concentration issue for me. They hit a level and then start to think they’re the big I am. Stop doing what got them there. Absolutely no reason DCL can’t press from the front and still get himself into the box when we have the ball. Instead he’s not working at all and then is shocked when he’s not ready when chances come along like he was early in the season.
