Very much agree the changes didn't really provide much impetus or added creativity.
The system looked staid too. Solid, but had run out of ideas second half.
Still, I guess Southgate just decided to play the tournament long game. Get the point, put his team in a strong position to qualify, accept a poor performance and move on.
England do look short of goals at the moment. Just been 1-0 wins against modest opposition the last few games (yesterday aside). Its all that is needed, of course, but I don't feel like they can turn a deficit around against quality. Especially if Kane is not on song.
Maybe Southgate takes the handbrakes off in the knockouts, when needed?
