Whilst I do agree, Dom is a better defensive asset than Kane. Dom wins so many corner and free kicks in our box and is better at holding the ball up and winning headers than Kane imo.
He might have been a better option for the second half but obviously Kane is a far better player and it was never going to happen

Still not convinced to be honest, that relies on runners getting beyond him. Just wasn't happening with Southgate.

DCL isn’t technically good enough at this moment in time for me. He’s very good in the air and works hard, but you need a bit more than that from your main striker.

in the first half the game plan was to have Kane come for the ball deep, hopefully pulling a centre half with him and have our full backs pushing into space behind. Once Italy got wind of that and midfielders picking Kane up, that nullified that plan and we didn't seem to have another. Kane was poor after the first 30 mins but the way we played, I'm not sure it was the type of style for DCL. Baffled by the lack of changing things up from Southgate, started well but Henderson is never ever the footballing answer
 

At the very least you'd have got some effort from Dom...
Which was nonexistent from Kane ...
The way he 'played' it was like having ten men

Southgate has had DCL for about 6 weeks and has seen him at his best and worst, he will not go on another England tour.

Ancellotti was only appointed at Madrid because they are broke and can’t afford new players

You could see the Italian defenders push up ten yards because they knew there was no danger of Kane getting in behind....and I don't think I saw him challenge in the air once ..
At least Dom would have competed in the air, and forced them back in their own half...
He's also a hell of a lot quicker on the counter.

Kane played as a number 10 and left us with our a striker...

Dom was there to offer what he has learnt off Duncan at Finch Farm..... laying out the cones, picking up the bibs and filling the water bottles

I dont think he was 100% fit, nor will his ankles take being up the sharp end with one or two big defenders kicking lumps off him all the game.
