It doesn’t matter in the slightest that we lost 4-0 today as long as DCL trains and is fully fit for the opening day at Southampton then I don’t care in the slightest that he missed a friendly. Imagine if he had a small issue and made it worse and then missed the first few games when we’re without Richarlison.

If he misses Southampton or doesn’t play well and moans about lack of match fitness then sure I’ll side with you but until then we certainly didn’t need him today.

Fair do's. I hope you're right. I'm just very frustrated with our players swanning around with their countries and then coming back either injured or half-arsed when we look nowhere near ready for the opener.
For once Everton, prove me wrong.

3 rubbish pathetic pre-season games...

Year in year out we bemoan that players didn't get a full pre-season work out, the Shoite have got 2 more home ties to work their kinks out, we played a bunch of maggots abroad that we struggled to beat and a half assed Man Utd side that strolled effortlessly past us.

No home game to get us chomping at the bit, even that dickwad Moshiri realises that could be to toxic to contemplate. Your pining your hopes on a young lad who's going to be getting no support from a squad of slugs in a ground where at least 50% of the support with be apathetic towards our own manager.

I'm not a lover of pre-season games, but this year certainly goes down in history as a benchmark of mediocrity, when we're 19th in a few months we can look back and haplessly state we didn't see it coming much!

I don’t care how much effort players put into a pre season match, it doesn’t matter one single bit. Every season teams look a bit ropey for the first four or five games because nobody puts in the effort in nothing games that they will in the league, especially after internationals.
Did you see the charity shield yesterday? Pathetic display from both teams, passing all over the place and no cutting edge and this was from two very good sides.

I’m looking game by game now and we have a better team than Southampton comfortably even without Richarlison.

If Benitez can send out a team that actually puts in some effort, which is what he’s been saying in his interviews basically, then the crowd will support them and we should win.

I didn't think about that and why there were no home games. I think that's a very good point.

Anyway, I only popped into this thread to see if he was fit for the opener against Southampton. Do we know anything yet?

we probably find out on Friday. Only news has been it is a knock. Problem might be as well that he hasnt trained a lot after the EURO's, so maybe lacks sharpness. However needs must, if fit must start ahead of Kean.

I was mainly meaning the forum rather than the whole fan base. I know the forum isn't truly representative of the fan base and some are more vocal than others.
