Thats because Richarlison isnt a tap in merchant...

The fact that Dom is changing his game to become a 'tap-in' merchant is why he's improving so much, ffs.

He isn't a player who's going to skin three or four players and hit one Top Corner from 20 yards. He's never going to be that player but now instead of running around like a mad man he's getting into the box to be on the end of things.

That's much more likely to get him - and us - 15 goals per-season than him trying to do everything else.

He holds it up well too, so it's not like we lose out in that regard.

Plenty to improve on but he's becoming a very good player.

As i say I didn't want you to feel like I was going off on you in particular, apologies if that's how it came off.

Its more a general point with some people in this thread.

All good mate.
Tbh if his game is a poacher I’m happy with that, the quality around him may help. I’d like to see someone else brought in as another option but let’s see.

All opinions football isn’t it? For me I’d prefer a different type of forward. I don’t see what you see which is fine. I don’t see his power or pace.

I’m not waiting for him to fail, I genuinely hope he succeeds and proves me wrong.

Just my opinion, not sure you can have one in this place though

What do you mean by a different type, though?

As it stands DCL suits us perfectly, with how Ancelotti wants to play.

I'm not having a go, just asking what you'd want?

Thankfully Ancelotti is a good manager who recognises the importance of having a striker who sniffs goals from close range and encourages him to be in the right areas.

DCl's problem was he wasn't in the right place to score close range goals. He didn't have enough hunger/selfishness to get himself in that 6 yard area. Anyone who doesn't think close range goals are important fundamentally misunderstands football. You can't expect to have a successful season if you are only dangerous from long range.

Im not fussed aslong as the goals go in - but when you have a player of Richarlison's quality who can score all kinds of top quality goals he's more likely to get more rope from the fans than a player who's more one dimensional.
DCL back heeled his first goal last week, slid in for the second and the third was a header, hardly one dimensional.

Someone who offers something different, DCL’s goals this season apart for Spurs where poachers goals which is fine, a goal is a goal and that might be his game moving forward. I’d like to have a striker that will create something for himself as another option. Imo outside the box or one on one he isn’t very good. Gives us another option against different teams

We have a lot of players able todo that, I like that we now have a player able to score on the rebound of those

It's the same argument as winning 1-0 playing Allardyce Football or playing tip tappy Barca esque, The result is still the same and a goal is a goal whether it's a 40 yard screamer or DCL has just smashed it in from his arse.

A hat trick in a game we won by 3, and the winner in a one nil.

I'm not sure what more people actually want.

He needs to be consistent yes, 100%. But if he gets us 15+ league goals then he is doing his job. Ancelotti will be pushing him to aim as high as possible though.

He has the attitude where he will always want to get better too. I don't think he's peaked yet by any means.
