I think DCL has had his head turned by a) too much phoney praise on his catwalk stints and b) Paper talk about which big clubs want to buy him. He now thinks Everton are too small for him. Take the money come the summer.

I don't doubt his commitment, I think he thinks he's doing the right thing by saving energy. Ever since Ancelotti advised him to stay central, he seems to have taken that to mean "don't move unless you're making a run". He never closes down properly anymore or chases lost causes, which he used to be good at. He needs to get that aspect of his game back.

We need him next week because we are playing City, but any other opponent and I'd probably drop him. Today he was totally anonymous. There are no bids coming in for him with performances like that. He was dreadful.

I understand your point. At the same time, for a striker some almost put in the same shelf as Haaland (which is just ridiculous) and who is an English national team player, one should be able to expect better. But that's a bit of my point with DCL, he is one-dimensional, and has very little to add beyond being a target man within the opponent's box. I think a comparison with Chris Wood is pretty good. DCL is faster, and a little more mobile, but Wood has a slightly better shooting technique.
Fwiw Haaland would have struggled today too

I'll say it again. He's overhyped and not good enough, certainly for what we need at the moment. He'd probably score plenty for City or the RS but having said that, I doubt he'd get a game for them

When you are under the cosh away from home you need your CF to battle and hold the ball. He barely won a challenge all 90 minutes. And that meant the midfield had no options to pass because they knew it would come straight back. He needs to seriously improve because he's been really poor since coming back, like miles off the pace.

Don't get under the cosh
