Do we now have a player who can score penalties?

I think the minute he stepped up in an England International game and stuck it in the top corner like a prime Shearer was the minute he should have been put on pens for us

He'll obviously miss the odd one here and there but his run up is uncomplicated, he seems to pick a spot and sets his mind on it.

Compare it to someone like Richarlisons mad run up or Gylfis short run up which looks great until the keeper dives the right way.

What I like about DCL is his willingness to learn and try and improve his game. He is not a natural goalscorer and will never be a Kane, Shearer, Lukaku or who ever we want to compare him to, but I think he has a desire to try and play to his strengths and improve his weaknesses. The last 12 months, he is getting into goalscoring positions and the two chances yesterday were on target and well saved by the keeper.

I think because his only skill in front of goal is getting in the areas 5 yards out and nocking it in. When he can't even do that and misses them perfect opportunities it can be frustrating.

2 in 2 though. Cant complain though.

Absolutely this! His biggest strength is his attitude. Every season he seems to add a little bit more to his game and he doesn't ever seem complacent. When he first made his way into the first team I really didn't think he would make it, but this attitude must have been why managers kept picking him and it's paid off big time. Great player and seems super down to earth. Love him.

His attitude isn't going to improve his finishing. Good lad and wants to improve, unfortunately he's at an age now where if you can't finish you never going to be able to, you either got it or you haven't. He hasn't and he cost us 2 points yesterday because of it. He'll never in a million years play for a top team he is not good enough

Except he has improved his finishing. He's a much better finisher than he was 4 seasons ago.

I thought the same thing about him in regards to his first touch and now his hold up play and first touch is pretty decent. I agree that he still doesn't look a natural finisher but he still contributes plenty of goals. I've learnt to not to write him off because I have in the past. Everything about his determination and work ethic suggests to me he hasn't hit his ceiling yet.

Missed a couple of golden chances yesterday but you know what, 2 in 2 and more importantly we’re creating chances for him so whilst it’s a bit frustrating not to take all the points given the opportunities we had, I’m positive about the start to the season and our style of play
