Effort is the bare minimum. How can anyone seriously argue he is working hard after an incident like the one with Tarkowski. He literally got skinned in 2 feet of space with the touchline to help. He couldn't be arsed to put in a challenge.

And if you can't be arsed to challenge defensively, then you aren't going to win loose balls in the box either. It's a mindset, and I'm sorry, but ever since he came back from injury, even as far back as that Brighton game, I've seen a different player to last year. It's a player who isn't willing to compete with defenders, a player who has next to no movement in behind, and a player who is absolutely not giving their best.

He can be the difference for us because he has the ability, and that's why I'm upset. Only he can decide what happens next. if he's in the right mindset, he will cause United trouble, but I have little confidence in that happenning, because we would have seen it by now if it was going to happen.
I don't think he's working hard. I think he's miles off the pace fitness wise as he has been all season because of injury and he just can't get up to speed, so he's working well within himself because he probably doesn't want to push it and risk further injury. That's not a defence of him, that's just what I'm seeing.

That injury was awful mate. Awful. Like I said, it was as bad as Gbamin's and he could have ended up needing surgery. But it's no excuse for his lack of effort recently

So his all-round game is totally on him. But, his lack of chances - well he's never been a player that creates his own chances (not many are that type) so he needs better service. Burnley scored two goals last night from basic cut backs into the six-yard box. Why don't we do that?

Dan Ashworth is actually competent though so I don’t think that is on the cards.

He's a good striker, he's proved it. Newcastle will create chances that he'll score. This Everton team don't. Because we have absolutely no creativity at all and our full-backs are the worst in the league by miles.

He’s proved he can have a purple patch, so has Emmanuel Dennis.

He's not.

His all-round gameplay right now is crap. Last season it was generally superb and Everton were creating the chances to go with it.

He's not working hard at the all-round play atm, and that's on him. Whatever his reasons, not wanting to push that quad injury etc, it's on him.

But he's also not getting any type of service that a striker needs to end a barren run. Look, part of that is on him too, not making the right runs etc, but he's had one chance in the last what, 7 games, that would be remotely considered a good chance and that was when he hit the post v West Ham - from a similar chance to what Richarlison did yesterday too. Lack of composure because this team doesn't create enough so the players snatch at the few opportunities they get.

It's what we get for getting rid of creative players and thinking Townsend and Gray would be our saviours in that regard. I don't mind getting rid of better creativity if you replace it in some form with players with actual guile, but we haven't.

Christian Eriksen was dead 9 months ago and didn’t play football or even train for the next 6 months and he’s ripping the place up and keeping Brentford in the league single handedly right now. DCL has been fit since New Year’s Day.

Yes, and like I said, Dom needs to get his head out of his arse. I'm not using it as an excuse. Just saying, it was an awful injury and what I see is a player that for whatever reason is scared to push it. And that's not on.

I've made every excuse for him, non-existent service/manager instructions - I pinned hopes on him giving us a focal point that would drag us out of the mess so it was worth playing him to fitness but I've give up.

We had plenty of the ball in the final third yesterday and he just wouldn't move or make any effort to create any space. There was absolutely nothing from him. I just don't understand why he wouldn't move.

Even a Dobbin type would stretch play/be a bit of a handful.

Shouldn't start next game or if he does, drag him off after 30 minutes if he's the same.

I. Burnley scored two goals last night from basic cut backs into the six-yard box. Why don't we do that?
Because Dyche actually trains a lot on defense, and how we laughed ata him and his so called mediocre management skills. We wanted full attack, beautiful milan 1995 football and thought keane was the next Maldini and DCL somehow got the idea he is the next Inzaghi.

I don't think DCL is way down the list tbh. They'll have a few targets like any club.

DCL would score 30 goals in a season for City because they create so many chances that he'd thrive off. People think that's easy but it's not, considering Jesus never gets near that total.

Not saying DCL is that standard and City won't go for him, but teams know that he's still a very good striker with the right type of service. He's proved it.

But he won't have impressed potential suitors with his lack of workrate recently. He's clearly not fit, that injury was really bad, but there's no excuse for not trying as hard as Richarlison or Gordon.
They will have a few targets, but reports I have seen down here suggest they see him as too expensive for his output and they have better options they can look at so he is down the list for now.
I don't see DCL ever scoring 30 goals for City as they would have to change the way they play and Pep would never do that. They spent £100m on Grealish and he has had to fit in and adapt to them. I don't see City and Pep ever playing balls out wide and lobbing crosses into the 6 yard box for DCL.
I feel sorry for him in a way as he is the type of player who just doesn't really fit into the way a lot of the modern teams want to play, its nobodies fault it is just circumstances.

He came back months ago. Using the injury as an excuse in April is ridiculous. There is no defence of the rubbish he has served up.

In fact, I see all those players who have missed large portions of the season as a big part of the reason we are going down. Absolutely everyone should be available for every game between now and the end of May unless they have a serious injury. It's not just bad luck, there is a complete lack of commitment to get fit and on the pitch.
